Dear Third Grade Families,
We had a lovely first full day of school! Thank you for helping your students prepare! Today is also the first day of homework, so I wanted to clarify a few things. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Spelling/Brainpop Homework: Both spelling and Brainpop homework is due on Friday. I will not check it until Friday. Examples of each are attached to your student’s handouts. Please feel free to keep the examples to refer back to throughout the year. For Brainpop, it is the free movie of the week in the Brainpop Jr. app (yellow, with a girl and a robot on the front)
Math: Math homework will either be ST Math or from their math workbook each night. This is one of the few things due every day, not just Friday. For ST Math tonight, they will be playing the Fluency games. They can be accessed by logging in and clicking the blue button in the top left corner that has the four operation symbols. It will automatically time them for 10 minutes. I will check through the teacher portal tomorrow morning to see that they have completed it.
Planners: Please make sure that students have their school-issued planners. They will need these every day. They can be purchased for $5 in the office. They will write down their homework each day, as well as what color they ended on on our clip chart and why they were on that color if it was below green. A clip chart color explanation is in our general policies handout which is attached.
Starting today, if students do not turn in their homework, they will receive a blue effort notice. Please sign and return this with the missing homework the next day so your student can receive credit.
Finally, I am attaching our Third Grade General Policies as well. I usually pass this out at Back to School Night, but you might find it helpful to take a look at earlier. I will also go over this at Back to School Night next week. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Mrs. Galarza
