Tuesday
Finish your notes outline if you have not done so. We will be reviewing in class on Friday. You do not have to define the terms yet, but you may start because it will be assigned at a later time. Powerpoint have been posted.
Catch up with reading! Act 1 Scene 2-5 should be read by Friday. Remember, don’t stress out if you do not understand it! You can read the translated version, and we will break it down in class!
Writing Prompt: This piece of literature deals with the theme of love. How do you think women were valued? Specifically look at Capulet’s and Prince’s conversation as well as Benevolio’s and Romeo’s conversation in Act 1 Scene 2. Look at the language that Shakespeare uses. In class I used the example, that every time a woman is mentioned, in the line, there is also an “I and/or you” (referring to another man). What does that say about women? These are some questions to think about to help you answer your prompt. Please write a short paragraph, minimum 5 sentences and using complete sentences. You will be turning this in. Due tomorrow.
Wednesday
Read up to Scene 5 by Friday! Remember, I just want you to try! If you want to read the translation, that is fine! We will review the text in modern English in class! I just want you to understand what is going on in the plot!
Have the first two pages of your outline done by Friday! If you want to start defining the terms, please feel free to do so, because they will be assigned at a later time!
If you want partial credit on your prompt, I will still take it on Friday!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at mgarcia@stanthonygardena.org.
Best,
