Happy 2018 to all you may the Lord bless you!
MISSION PROJECT
California Mission Project
You will choose a Mission to attend during Christmas Break or anytime before January 19. You may choose any of the 21 Missions in California. This Mission project will consist of three parts. Part 1 will require you to write a report on a mission. Part 2 will require you to make a poster in regard to the mission you visited. Part 3 will require you to present your mission to the class. I will thoroughly outline what will be expected of you in both parts 1, 2, and 3. It is your responsibility to follow directions and submit the completed project on time.
Part 1 – Express your research skills! STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN TIME IN LEARNING LAB TO DO RESEARCH.
Write a research paper on your mission:
- Name of the mission you visited; date you went to the mission; who did you go with; why did you choose this particular mission. Any other information about the mission visit you would like to include.
- Founder of the mission and date founded; ten interesting facts about this mission; history of the mission.
- Describe in detail the mission’s building. (Example: What does the entrance of the mission look like? What is the color of the building? What did you see at the mission you particularly liked/enjoyed? Would you like to visit the mission again? Why or why not?)
Part 2- Express your creativity! THIS WILL BE COMPLETED AT HOME! DUE DATE: JANUARY 23, 2018
You must take a camera with you when you visit the mission in order to complete part 2 of the Mission Project. You must document the mission through the pictures you are expected to take while you tour the mission. You must take at least ten pictures in total and in each picture you must be present in it. You must develop the pictures and paste the pictures on the TRIFOLD (3 sides) poster board. This is your opportunity to get creative. Decorate the poster board and make it look beautiful! The poster board must include the following:
Front of the poster board:
- name of the mission you visited
- at least ten pictures of the mission (including yourself)
- a caption for each picture that provides a brief description (one sentence will be enough)
Back of poster board
- your name, number, and due date
Part 3– Express your oral skills! THIS WILL BE COMPLETED AT SCHOOL WHEN THE BOARD IS DUE.
You will present your mission to the class through an activity called inside-outside circle. You will informally share your board with your board with classmates.
