Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for attending our parent meeting last night. It’s always nice to see our school families all together.
As you heard the announcement last night, we have 3 classroom teachers moving on to begin new chapters in their lives next year. They have served our school so well, and we will miss them greatly, but we send them off with our love and best wishes.
Sr. Kimberly Nguyen will be relocated by her Mother Superior to St. Polycarp in the Diocese of Orange, and she will teach 1st grade. She has been with us for about 4 years now, first as an aide, and then as a 5th grade teacher, then our beloved Kinder teacher for 2 years. We are so grateful to her for her undying loyalty and dedication to SAP.
Ms. Megan Fraser, our 3rd grade teacher graduates with her Masters and credential this weekend, 5/5/18, and finishes her time as an LMU PLACE Corps member. She will be moving back home to Northern CA to be closer to her family. Even though she was here only with us for one year, she made a huge and wonderful impact on our school and we were blessed to have one year with her.
Mr. Aaron De Loera, our Assistant Principal and 7th grade Homeroom/History and Religion teacher, will be pursuing his dream of becoming a Catholic School principal and wants to move closer to home in Garden Grove. We wish him and his beautiful wife all the best in the future. Aaron came to St. Anthony of Padua 4 years ago, at the same time I arrived, and he has been a wonderful Assistant Principal, colleague, and friend these past 3 years. Thank you Aaron for all you have done for our school!
We do love and appreciate ALL our teachers and we will miss them greatly, but we know God has a plan for each of them and he will take care of them. Positions can be filled, but PEOPLE will never be replaced.
Mrs. Ellen Piper has also recently announced her pregnancy She is due in October and we congratulate her and her husband on their new addition! Mrs. Monica Rubalcava will step in as the new K-8 PE teacher next year.
Our Crossover Day will take place on May 29 so our students will meet their new teachers at that time.
Below are our incredible new teachers, who will be great additions to our SAP Family. They are Ms. Rebecca Strohm (Kinder), Mrs. Genesis Garcia (3rd Grade), and Mr. Sean Perry (7th Grade.)
Please welcome them when you see them on campus. Their bios and photos are below. They are excited to join our family.
God bless,
Mrs. Grey
Ms. Strohm is thrilled to be a part of St. Anthony of Padua School. Her goal is to guide students through their formative kindergarten year while meeting their needs academically and spiritually.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies from California State University, Northridge. Ms. Strohm also holds a clear multiple subject teaching credential. Ms. Strohm is dedicated to Catholic education. She has taught first grade for the past four years in Catholic schools. Before that, she taught English as a second language in South Korea. She also has experience as a tutor and teacher’s aide.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Strohm loves spending time with her family, traveling, and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Dodgers!
Genesis Garcia is very enthusiastic and eager to join St. Anthony of Padua School as a 3rd grade teacher next year. She was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Surrounded by teachers in her family, she passionately pursued the calling of becoming one herself. She grew up in a Catholic community, attended public elementary and a Catholic high school. She attended one of the well-known and most respected universities in the Philippines, Far Eastern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education, with Major in Mathematics. As she was in college, she became an active student leader under the Institute of Education. She became a delegate in different conferences–locally, and in Asia.
Ms. Garcia has been a classroom teacher for four years–one in Kindergarten and three years in a 2nd and 3rd Grade combination class. Having two classes tested her teaching abilities, but also taught and trained her to be a better and competent teacher. She believes as well that to teach is to touch lives. Teaching and touching lives of young minds make her feel her worth and her purpose—an instrument of God. She is very excited to share the knowledge and talent God has given her in able to help nurture and recognize her students’ potentials and God-given abilities.
Sean Perry is a proud graduate of the University of California, Irvine. While at UCI, he played on the Lacrosse team and earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Education. After graduation, he enrolled in the Loyola Marymount University PLACE Corps credentialing program to begin work toward his Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Mr. Perry has taught at another Catholic School in Westchester as a long-term substitute in 6th grade and had volunteered and subbed in all grades ranging from preschool to 8th grade. Mr. Perry also coached Youth and High School Lacrosse teams for the past few years and was an advisor for the YMCA’s Youth and Government. He has a heart for leadership–and in the future–Mr. Perry would like to work towards a school administrative position so he can effect positive change in educational policy.
Mr. Perry enjoys sports like soccer, baseball, and volleyball. He also loves going to the beach, reading, and spending time with friends. He is excited about the opportunity to teach at St. Anthony of Padua and is looking forward to his continuous growth as an educator.
