Dear First Grade Families,
I pray you all are well! The first graders were hard workers again today. We continued to review our Tribes Agreements as we work our way through the curriculum. Please continue to encourage your children to follow these agreements, even at home!
The Tribes Agreements are:
- Mutual Respect
- Attentive Listening
- Appreciations/No Putdowns
- Right to Pass
- Personal Best
Also, below are a few important updates and reminders:
Homework
-Students should complete pg. 13-14 in their Go Math! Standards Practice Books tonight. This will be turned in on Friday. Be sure your child puts their name on their paper!
-Students should read 20-30 minutes and fill out their reading log. This reading log is turned in every day!
-Students should complete one activity in their sight word journal using all the sight words for the week. This will be turned in on Friday. Be sure your child puts the date in the top left hand corner! (PLEASE NOTE: Students may use the back page of the previous activity to complete each activity! Using front and back will help students utilize all the space in their notebooks!)
-Parents should initial the homework assignment sheet to indicate that your child completed their homework each evening. This is a part of your child’s work habits grade.
Picture Day 9/20
-Picture day is THURSDAY!
-Payment envelope can come in Now, or it needs to be with your child on Thursday Sept. 20.
-Because we have P.E. your child may wear their P.E. shoes with their formal Mass uniform. Students will not be changing into their P.E. uniforms on Thursday after pictures.
Library Wednesdays 8am-9am
-The first grade students go to library on Wednesdays.
-If you would like your child to check-out books this year, please be sure you signed and returned the Library Policies form.
-We are always looking for help from parents during library time! We will need one parent to help students check-out books, and another parents to read aloud a story to the children. If you are interested in volunteering in either of these ways, please respond to this email.
Issues with Raz-Kids & ST Math
-Thank you for your patience with Raz-Kids! You all should be able to log on at home now. Please note that not all students have logged onto Raz-Kids in the classroom yet. This is a goal we are working on through centers this week.
-If you are encountering problems with ST Math (ex. only allowing your children to play games for, “homework”) Please let me know and we can set-up a time for you to bring your at home iPad to school. This is a problem Mrs. Navia is aware of, and we can troubleshoot it together.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am so proud of our class’s progress so far!
Warmly,
Ms. Lozano
