Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year 2019! The staff and I truly appreciated all the outpouring of love and gifts from all of you. Many thanks! I’d also like to thank Mrs. Garcia and all the students and teachers for putting on an incredible Christmas Program. Special thanks also goes to Mr. Erick Rubalcava for his musical accompaniment during the show, and to Pernil Luna-Marthaler of Coastal Coffees for providing us with a delicious concession afterwards! Congratulations to our Hawaiian Raffle Winners: the 3rd place winner of $250 was David Campos (a Religious Ed worker), Maria Luz was our 2nd place winner for the $500 ticket, and Jose Huerta (an RCIA candidate) was our Hawaii trip winner! Thank you all for participating.
I have to acknowledge my wonderful VP, Mrs. Navia, for taking over as Interim principal, while I have been out on medical leave. I am grateful for our teachers and the leadership at our school. As an update, regarding my own medical condition, I am so overcome with gratitude at the amazing love, support, and prayers I have received from all of you over the past few months. Thank you for giving me hope and strength. My surgeries have been successful, and I am recovering well from them. Now, I will be looking at a year of treatment ahead, and my goal is to be able to return to work after the MLK Holiday. I am currently immunocompromised due to treatments, but I should be back at school soon, and will take precautions while there. I have missed the students and families!
We have an amazing community here at St. Anthony’s, and I feel so blessed to be here. It’s always exciting for our faculty and staff to return from the break and see students ready to learn with renewed enthusiasm and energy! Our entire faculty and staff are ready to hit the ground running. We have many exciting events coming up such as Open House, National Catholic Schools’ Week, Jog-A-Thon, another Scholastic Book Fair, Aladdin (our school play), spring musicals, graduation, and much more. We will be in contact with more committees as these events approach. Once again, I want to wish all of you a very happy and healthy 2019 and we pray that God continues to shower us with so many blessings, as He continually does!
Mrs. Grey, Principal

Please remember that ONLY uniform sweaters and jackets are allowed at school. Colors/prints that detract from our private school uniform look are not allowed. Teachers may send home uniform infractions for your child if there is a violation. 3 infractions will equal a detention. Please see the section on uniforms in the Parent/Student Handbook found online to get reacquainted with the school policy. As a reminder, all boys must have clean haircuts and girls may only wear school accessories and stud earrings. Random checks school wide will begin this trimester.
TEACHING TOUCHING SAFETY (TTS FORMS DUE BY 1/4/19)
Although you are all your child’s first teachers, we are very happy each year to conduct the “Teaching Touching Safety” Classes to our students. This is a course that covers an age-appropriate curriculum to bring awareness to students regarding issues of sexual abuse and dangers. It teaches them the lines of “appropriateness” within particular contexts and how to avoid and respond to possible situations that could endanger them. *PERMISSIONS SLIPS WILL BE SENT HOME AND MUST BE RETURNED TO YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER BY FRIDAY, January 4. Lessons begin this month. If you have any questions or concerns about the form/TTS program, please email me. Lessons will be completed by 2/15/19 and if you opt out, please notify Mrs. Grey ASAP.
IMPORTANT EARLY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION!
If you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten next year and is NOT at St. Anthony’s Day Nursery – please contact me right away to let me know so I can include him/her on the early registration list. If your child is already at the Nursery School, you have already received info and should have turned in all applications. Kinder Testing takes place January 7-11.
