Dear First Grade Families,
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great day! Below are some reminders & announcements for the week:
Homework–
The only assigned homework is for students to work on their Valentine’s Day Box! Please make sure your child is trying their personal best on this project, and let me know if you have any questions. Boxes are due Thursday, February 14th.-If your child is super speedy and has finished their box already, there are other options for your child to work on as homework. Your child can work on ST Math, Raz-Kids, or work ahead in their Go Math! workbook based on what we have done in class. Let me know if you encounter any problems!
Valentine’s Day–
All students are encouraged to bring in Valentines (small treat or card) for their classmates on Thursday, February 14th (30 students total). Remember, no peanuts or tree nuts due to allergies! Also, please make sure your child addresses each Valentine to “My Friend” and signs their name (this will save some time when passing them out). -Students may come to school in red or pink free dress on Thursday! I do not recommend wearing jeans because the students will have P.E., so make sure they wear something they can move around in. Refer to the free dress guidelines!-Please continue to send baby pictures for our fun “Name That Baby” game! I have gotten a few so far, and it is so sweet to see your big first graders as babies!
STAR Testing & TTS–
We will continue with STAR testing tomorrow. All first graders will take STAR Early Literacy. If your child received a scaled score of 775 last testing window, they are able to take STAR Reading and Math. Make sure your child gets enough sleep and eats a healthy breakfast!-We will also begin teaching the Teaching Touching Safety lessons tomorrow. 100% attendance is required to teach these lessons, so please let me know ahead of time if your child will be absent.
As a reminder, there is no school this Friday, February 15th, or next Monday, February 18th! I am enjoying this fun week with your students, and I look forward to all the exciting upcoming events! Thank you for your continued cooperation!
Warmly,
Ms. Lozano
