Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians,
It was great to see how much talent 2nd Grade has last Thursday! Half the talent show was 2nd Grade! Thank you for helping your child prepare for the show! On another note, please be aware that it is flu season and kids can easily catch the bug if they are not taking extra precautions such as dressing warmly in this cold weather, drinking a lot of water, eating healthy, and sanitizing their hands before they eat! Please help me remind your children to take extra care of themselves, especially in the rainy days to come! Thanks so much.
There are some big and exciting events in the month of March! Please note the following:
CLASSROOM ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS:
–Cultural Project – Your child will be learning about different cultures and traditions in Social Studies and will be completing a Cultural Project to enhance their learning beyond their textbooks and classroom setting. Please take some time to take a look at the green project packet I sent home in their folder this week. You will find the packet attached to this email as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks!
–Parent Meeting last Monday – Thank you so much to all those who were able to make our Parent Meeting! It was really for you to be more aware of what your child has been doing, how they have grown, and where we are going the rest of the year with upcoming events and projects. I am still fine tuning some details in the Powerpoint for parents who were unable to make it that evening and will send out an email as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding!

-Tests:
–Character Response Reading Test: There was a reading packet sent home today for this week’s homework to prepare your child for their next reading test next Monday. The focus is on how students are able to identify the challenge/conflict in the story and determine how the character responds to the challenge in actions, words, and emotions. The reading log is on the last page of this packet.
-High Frequency Test: Although there is no High Frequency Word packet for homework this week. I am still introducing a new set of 10 words and having a block of time during class each day to have daily practice with these words. Therefore, there is still a test scheduled for their words this Friday.
-Noun Test: Your child’s Noun Test was graded and sent home with points for the corrections they had made in class. Please sign this test and return them in your child’s folder. Thanks!
-Chapter 6 Test: This test was graded over the weekend and sent home in your child’s folder today. Please make any optional test corrections for a regrade by this Friday, 3/8. Report cards are due and I am unable to take any test corrections after this date. Thanks so much!
