Dear First Grade Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful spring break! I missed the firsties so much, and I was so happy to see them again in the classroom today! They had such a fun time sharing all the fun things they did over break. We are back to a normal schedule this week. Please see the homework below and let me know if you have any questions:
Homework
-Math: Math homework for Monday & Tuesday comes from your child’s Go Math Standards Practice Book. We are jumping around a little and starting with time and will complete measurement next week, so please have your child pay careful attention to the page numbers.Students are also expected to complete ST Math at home in addition to homework to meet their end of the year goal. Many students are well on their way to finishing first grade ST Math! I am so proud of them!! Here are the page numbers for this week’s math homework:
- Monday: pg. 183-184
- Tuesday: pg. 185-186
- Wednesday: pg. 187-188
- Thursday: 189-190
*Math homework will be turned in on Friday, May 3rd. There is NO quiz this week, please disregard any typos on the homework assignment sheet! Thank you for your understanding!
–Sight Word Journal- Your child should complete 4 activities (one for each night) using all four sight words. Sight word journals should be turned in on Friday. The sight words for the week are:
- could, shop, once, every
–Reading Log- This week for the reading log, students should read any book, and indicate whether the book is fiction or non-fiction. Then the students should complete the sentence as to why they think their book is fiction or non-fiction.
Tests
-Your child will take their weekly sight word test this Friday, May 3rd. Your child’s homework is a great way to study for these tests, but feel free to incorporate other forms of studying, for example making flash cards, etc.! Let me know if you need any extra support at home in helping your child study.
Other Reminders
-Family Mass will be this Sunday, May 5th! I hope you all can make it! If your child wears their formal Mass uniform, they will receive a free dress pass from the choir.
-Please also make sure to let me know asap if your child is unable to access ST Math at home! Mrs. Navia has fixed many first grade iPads this year, and the extra work at home has really improved their ST Math progress!
Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Ms. Lozano
