Dear First Grade Families,
I hope you all are well! We had another fun day today in first grade! We had our first Library today and we all enjoyed it.
Below are a few reminders to ensure we have another successful week:
- TOMORROW our students have P.E. for the first time this year! Please come fully dressed with PE uniform and comfortable running shoes and a Water Bottle. I would prefer students hydrate by drinking water over sugary drinks including: Gatorade, Powerade, Juice, etc…
- If you send your children to school with shoe laces instead of velcro, please ensure that your children are practicing how to tie their shoes at home. With a large class size, it is challenging for Mrs. Ray and myself to tie everyone’s shoes, so this is a great skill for your child to learn as first graders.
- The first graders have been doing a great job turning in their green homework folders into the file box outside the first grade classroom every morning! Please continue to encourage your child to turn in their folder as soon as they hang up their backpacks.
- Formal Mass uniform on Fridays and all school masses.
- Our firsties have a lot to talk about throughout the day, and unfortunately all of this talking has been interfering with academic learning time. I would like to let you know that I will move some students seats. I have observed how they work and affect each other during class. Please encourage your child to listen and follow directions the first time around, and to save their conversations for appropriate times during the day.
- Many 1st graders have expressed interest on Dino Robotics, one of the enrichment classes offered after school. If you want to sign up your child please do so as it will begin next week, Wednesday. If you need more information please visit their website.
- Dino Robotics: Grades K-3
- Robotics and Aviation: Grades 4-6
- And Lastly, If you haven’t turned in emergency kits, pick up forms and green homework folder, please do so by the end of the week.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Looking forward to another great day with our fabulous firsties tomorrow!
Warmly,
Ms. Martinez
