Dear First Grade Families,
I pray you all are well! The first graders were hard workers again today. We had our Intruder alert drill and they did awesome! We continued to review our Tribes Agreements as we work our way through the curriculum. Please continue to encourage your children to follow these agreements, even at home!
The Tribes Agreements are:
- Mutual Respect
- Attentive Listening
- Appreciations/No Putdowns
- Right to Pass
- Personal Best
Also, below are a few important updates and reminders:
Homework
-Students should complete their Go Math pages by Friday. Standards Practice Books tonight. This will be turned in on Friday. Be sure your child puts their name on their paper!
-Students should read 20-30 minutes and fill out their reading log. This reading log is turned in every day!
-Students should complete one activity in their sight word journal using all the sight words for the week. This will be turned in on Friday. Be sure your child puts the date in the top left hand corner! (PLEASE NOTE: Students may use the back page of the previous activity to complete each activity! Using front and back will help students utilize all the space in their notebooks!)
-Parents should initial the homework assignment sheet to indicate that your child completed their homework each evening. This is a part of your child’s work habits grade.
-Sight word homework. I apologize if we miss to give some students a copy of the sight word for this week. Here is this week’s sight word list.

Tests from last week
We have sent out the tests from last week, please sign and return tomorrow.
Raz-kids & Scholastic Book Club
They are both great resources for reading for our firsties. Raz-kids is an app that we use in our classroom during ELA centers. It provides a wide variety of books for our students. Username : nmartinez74 & password: abc. Please make sure that your child carefully chooses his own name. You can use Raz-kids for the reading log as well. And Lastly, I encourage parents to use our Scholastic book club class code, this is also a great resource for our readers. Please use our class code so we can get more points. VV4T7.
ST MATH
Once again, students should be able to log into ST Math at home. If you’re having a problem working with it at home let me know. The St Math app needs to be downloaded in the school, it has to be under the school’s IP ADDRESS. Remember this is not homework, but I encourage your children to practice at home.
FLU season
Flu season is starting and some of the students are getting sick. If a child is sick, he/she will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other students. If possible, have the student rest at home. You can email me about the homework or activities that we had for that day and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Ipad Charger
Thank you so much to all the parents that donated school supplies and IPad charger!! Thank you for supporting our class! Unfortunately, we don’t have enough iPad cables to charge them. If you have extra iPad cables for charger that we can use, it would greatly be appreciated.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am so proud of our class’s progress so far!
Warmly,
Ms Martinez
