Attached is the homework assignment sheet for the week. Please also take a look at the reminders and announcements for the week:
Chapter 2 Go Math! Quiz on 10/10
-The first graders will take a quiz on the lessons covered thus far in chapter 2. You can help your child study by reviewing subtraction facts from 0-10!
Sight Word Test on 10/11
-Students will be tested on their sight words this Friday, October 11th.
-Students will be graded on if they can spell each of their sight words correctly. Remember, these are the words that first graders should be able to automatically recognize when reading independently!
Reading Log
-This week, the students are learning more about asking question about the text in different stories.
-Because we are focusing on asking questions this week, students should read a non-fiction books each evening.
-Non Fiction books are stories based on facts and real life, rather than a fictional (made-up) story.
-Please remind your child to turn in their reading log every day for full credit!
Parent-Teacher Conference
-I would like to remind you regarding our parent teacher conference this week. Please check and come on your scheduled date and time. If you need to schedule a longer meeting at a later time, please notify me and we will schedule an appointment.
-We have 12 noon dismissals all week, Monday-Friday, with daycare offered all week through 6pm. NO LUNCH will be provided during school hours, but we will have the Coastal Coffees truck on Campus for a few hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then a new vendor, Tastyblock, will have their truck on campus Tuesday and Friday, October 8 and 11.
Saint Plate Project
Report
This year, our project is focused on North American saints, but students can come dressed as any saint (no cross-dressing).
- All students were assigned a saint. (With the help of a parent) students should complete their report on their assigned saint.
- Students should complete the attached Saint report & include a photo in the blank square
- Your child should cut out each of the squares on the Saint report, and glue them on a paper plate (yes, a plate!!).
- Using the stencil, students should create their saint on the other side of the paper plate.
- Students should be prepared to present their plate on the week of October 21st!
- The “Saint Plate” report is due Monday, October 21, 2019.
- The green rubric should be returned to school with your child’s project.
Dress-Up
- On November 1st, Students should come to school dressed up as any Saint.
- Saint costumes do not need to be elaborate!
- Students will process into Mass with the school in their costumes.
- Costumes should go over your child’s school uniform, as we will be changing in the classroom after Mass.
- The costume is part of your child’s total grade for their “Saint Plate” project.
