Musical Genres
Objectives:
- Students can create a presentation that explores the musical genre they have chosen.
- Students can show the history and development of music through their genre.
Standards:
- 1.4 Analyze and describe the use of musical elements and expressive devices in aural examples in a varied repertoire of music representing diverse genres, styles, and cultures.
- 1.6 Analyze the use of form in a varied repertoire of music representing diverse genres, styles, and cultures.
Directions:
- Tell the history of your genre (Who created it? What? When? Where? How was it created?
- Pick five people who have influenced your genre (They can be artists, songwriters, composers, instrumentalists, etc.)
- Choose a song from each of the people you pick.
- You should have a total of five songs and people (minimum, you may have more).
- If songs have any explicit language, please use the clean version. If you are bringing the song for a sample, look for a clean version. If a clean version is not available you will not receive credit for your song. Additionally, please make sure the content of the song is appropriate.
