Week of March 23-27, 2020
Objective: Students can create a piece of music through either song, instrument etc., dance, or through reading to perform and share with their peers.
Note: In these difficult, uncertain times, we as Catholics at St. Anthony of Padua are called to be Christ’s light. We do not have control over what is going on with the virus, but we do have control of our attitude and choosing to do good to those around us. Music and theatre are extremely important especially in these times because it allows us to express what we can’t always say in words.
Standards and SLEs: Please see details on the lesson plan attached.
Directions:
1. Choose a piece of music that you would like to perform. This can be any piece, but keep in mind, this project is called Hope will Rise. That means it should be a piece that will inspire people. It can be a piece already created, or you can even compose your own song. Here are some examples of what you can choose:
- An inspirational song you love.
- Any Christian songs are great (Cornerstone, O Come to the Altar, Lord, I Need You, Miracles, You Are Holy, How Great is Our God, Awesome God, This is Amazing Grace, Trust in You, Dry Bones, This Little Light of Mine, Our God)
- Songs that have been put on hold (ex. Are you in Frozen Jr.? Belt one of the songs out for us all to hear!)
2. Choose how you would like to perform that music. You can do the following:
- Sing
- Play an Instrument (Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Violin, Drums etc.)
- Dance
- If singing, dancing, and instrument playing is really not your thing, you can try spoken word! Perhaps you can read an inspirational poem, or make one up yourselves.
3. Rehearse your song, dance, performance etc. Please perform it for your parents/siblings or anyone that is in the house with you.
4. Record your performance.
- Should be 2-4 minutes in length.
- Introduce yourself at the beginning with your name and grade.
- Play it back and make sure that you can hear/see yourself. Make sure there is good lighting around you.
- At the end of your performance, choose and inspirational quote to share that will give people hope. Share it with us.
5. Upload your performance to Google Classroom for 3-8 grades. K-2 Parents, we will be using See Saw.
6. Reflect: Answer these questions and turn in a reflection sheet of paper to google classroom for grades 3-8 and See Saw.
- In general, how are you feeling now?
- How did creating music, theatre, art make you feel?
- When you performed for your family, what was your reaction?
- Did you enjoy this project? Why or Why not?
- Would you be willing to share this project with your peers?
Due Date: Friday, March 27, 2020 by Midnight
Note: We will share these with peers once I have viewed them all and if the students would like it shared. We will either post them or give them an opportunity to perform live via zoom!
Help: I will be available via Zoom if anyone has any questions or needs any help during the following times, please feel free to come ask questions or just say hello. Links can be found below, please note, this is NOT required, but I would enjoy talking to you!
Please note that you are expected to sign in with your full name so I know who you are via Zoom. Please make sure you are on mute unless you are called on to talk and you are behaving appropriately as you would in a regular classroom. Thank you!
