Hello SAP Students and Families,
I hope your first week of distance learning went well, and that it continues in a positive direction. First, I would like to say, that as a PE Teacher I would much rather have interaction with all of my 220 students rather than assigning written classwork. Taking them outside and teaching them different sports or workout routines is much more preferable. However, at the moment we are all doing the best we can to ensure a quality well rounded education for all of our students.
The nutrition booklets you received from me, their homeroom teacher, or the front office were ordered from the Dairy Council at the beginning of the school year. I was planning on working on these booklets after the Spring Break, but I am grateful to have them now during this time. There is plenty of good information for all grade levels regarding healthy nutrition and exercise. Please only complete the pages assigned by me weekly.
For Grades K-2, students have been submitting the assignments to me through email. I will be changing that soon, and will contact you on how you will submit your assignments. For last weeks work, if you have not done so already, please submit via email as I requested from you in last Monday’s email. There are approximately about 100 students in K-2 and my inbox has been overwhelmed with emailed assignments. I wouldn’t want anyone’s work to go missing accidentally.
For Grades 3-8, your assignments were uploaded to google classroom last week, and will continue to be uploaded that way. I am aware that many students have had trouble uploading assignments because of the very heavy internet traffic. I do ask that you please only submit via PE Google Classroom for your grade. I will give extensions on time to submit classwork so that you may try to find the best uploading time for you. It is difficult to manage receiving assignments from 220 students via email.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this unprecedented time. As a parent, I know how difficult it is to have your children home and assisting them with distance learning. You are all doing a great job, and I will do my part to make PE during distance learning both fun and educational. We will continue with the Nutrition packets and a light workout link or video for now. I will also set up zoom conferences for each grade level to check in if students or parents have any questions. These meetings will not be mandatory, but will be available.
For the first week these were the assignments emailed out:
Kindergaerten – Unit 1, Building a Healthy Me Nutrition Packet
1st Grade – 8th Grade – Pre-Assessment pages found in their Dairy Council Nutrition Packets.
Thank You and God Bless,
Mrs. Rubalcava
