Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week marks the midpoint of our 3rd trimester! Progress reports will be sent home via email tomorrow, 4/28/20. If you would like a hard copy of the snapshot interim report, please email your child’s teacher. You still also have access to grades via Gradelink. Because of the current situation, the grading scale and weighted scores will be slightly different in the 3rd trimester, from the first two trimesters. The teachers will be reaching out to you directly re: how they are grading differently this term, taking all the current factors of the COVID-19 circumstance into account. Please contact teachers directly with any grading concerns. We want to help you in this transition to distance learning that was thrust upon all of us.
Unfortunately, our Theater show, Frozen Jr. will have to be postponed to next school year, based on the current circumstances. More updates will come directly from Mrs. Garcia regarding this show and the Small Class Musicals. Our Disneyland trip for the 8th graders will also be postponed until the park reopens. The Athletic Banquet is still pending, and could possibly happen in some capacity, if restrictions are lifted soon re: stay-at-home orders.
Our 3rd and final mandatory General Parent Meeting was scheduled for May 7. Instead of a meeting online, a Powerpoint presentation will be emailed to you that day. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
The main school office continues to have virtual hours from Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4pm. Please email or call the office to schedule an appointment IF YOU MUST stop by in person. The office staff will be available to take your calls and emails remotely until 4pm on days school is in session. Our calendar is updated below and online. Even though Fiesta is canceled, we will still have classes May 11-13 and teacher in-service days on May 14 and May 15 as originally planned (see calendar below). On Memorial Day weekend, families will have a 4-day holiday from May 22-25, since the faculty will be working through Fiesta week and the Monday after, which was initially a Student Free Day on the calendar due to Fiesta Clean Up.
Please continue to check emails from your child’s teacher for specific directions for their work/assignments this week, and visit your child’s teacher’s classroom blogs daily at www.stanthonygardena.org for more information. Administration will continue to stay in touch via emails, the Remind app (as needed), and on social media (follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). We will also continue to post the weekly school bulletin on the homepage, and updates on the school website under News and Events on the homepage at www.stanthonygardena.org.
We keep our 2nd graders in our prayers, as they prepare for a retreat this coming weekend. Their First Holy Communion had to be rescheduled, and we anxiously await the new date. Our 8th graders had a lovely retreat this past Friday with Mr. Aguilar and a Mass celebrated by Fr. Paolo Garcia. We hope to be able to reschedule the 8th grade Pilgrimage for the first week of June.
Mrs. Grey, Principal

SERVICE HOURS
Each family must have either served 25 Service hours this year or pay out ($10/hr). Any hours that have not been served will be invoiced. You have the option to roll it into FACTS for the remainder of the year. Thanks to all who have already finished serving their family service hours for the year or who have paid in advance. Since Jog-A-Thon was canceled, we now encourage you to meet the $100 obligation for fundraising by purchasing Scrip online or paying it outright. Some great Scrip suggestions: Amazon, restaurants in the area with food delivery, or drive-through service in the area such as Starbucks, Taco Bell, Carl’s Jr, Panda Express, and gas cards from Sam’s Club, Vons/Albertson’s, Shell or 76. If you want to make a donation to the school to earn your service hours, we are in need of gift cards, specifically from Home Depot, Office Depot, Sam’s Club/Walmart, or Target for supplies. Thank you!
RE-REGISTRATION
We continue our planning process for the 2020-2021 school year and have been accepting new students, even in these circumstances. It is imperative for parents of returning students to complete the Registration process ASAP. We are in open enrollment and if you have not registered for next school year, your child will be waitlisted. Should you have any questions, please contact me via email at agrey@stanthonygardena.org. We are praying that you all remain safe and healthy.
