Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
I want to wish you all a Happy Labor Day Holiday with your families! We resume classes on Tuesday, 9/8/20. On Wednesday morning at 8:30am, we will have our weekly all-school Zoom morning Assembly. I apologize for the technical difficulties on our Zoom call last week. I do hope they get sorted out this week. It seemed to be working fine after the meeting.
Last Friday was our first ever Drive-in Welcome Back School Mass! Thank you all who joined us. It was a blessing to see all of you again and be together worshiping as a school community at Mass. If you missed it, an email link was sent out, so you can watch it online. Thank you to all our volunteers for helping out as ushers and parking attendants, and at hand sanitizing stations, and to our Student Government for organizing our fun snack cart. We hope to have more in-person Masses like this in the future.
This Wednesday, 9/9, is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT at 6:30 pm Zoom (Vicki Marsha Uniform online Sale is going on) and Chocolates for Fall Fundraiser are to be picked up this week at school (Tuesday and Wednesday at the Hall on 163rd St. See email and use Sign up Genius to pick up candies) The meeting at 6:30 pm usually happens in person, but this year it will be online. It is for all parents/guardians of our school, and is the first of 3 mandatory meetings throughout the year Non-participation for the entire night will result in a $50 fine. You will be signing up for October Parent Conferences that night with your child’s teachers, and will be letting teachers know if you want to get involved as parent volunteers. Our all school Zoom link will be sent out to everyone this week. In a separate email, your teachers will send you their links to their presentations. Each teacher will do the same 15-minute presentation twice, and will record one of the sessions to send you if you need a 3rd session, due to multiple children at our school.
Any questions, please feel free to reach out and contact me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org

ALLERGIES/EMERGENCY CARDS
If your child has any allergies or serious medical concerns, please be sure to notify our office as well as your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. Emergency cards and contact info must be current and updated in the office every trimester. WE NEED THE EMERGENCY CARD INFORMATION RETURNED IMMEDIATELY … This is extremely important in order to make sure we have accurate and updated records for your child. If your child has a medical condition or has allergies, we need to know this up front and have a plan in case of an emergency. When we return to campus, any medication must be self-administered by the child or by you, and permission for us to administer medicine must be in writing. Families, please be on the lookout for a new link to a fillable PDF for the Emergency Cards. This will be emailed to you so you can fill it out online. Thank you!
HANDBOOK AND IMPORTANT FORMS
Parents, please read the latest Parent Student Handbook online at our website to be up to date on our policies:http://handbook.la-archdiocese.org/schools/08820 Some rules and procedures have slightly changed, so please pay special attention to those changes.
We have also sent out a COVID-19 addendum to the handbook and some distance learning guidelines in an email from our Secretary, Maria Grimaldo. In light of our current pandemic, we created the attached addendum: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mcJPhfuoB4xUCwug7SYum8BaK0Dk24p7EX1p9-tsjqo/edit?usp=sharing
And finally, in an effort to aid parents with their role in Distance Learning and lay out clear expectations for Students and their families, please see the Distance Learning Handbook:

PLC SERVICE HOURS (10 hours per family waived this year)
Again, a very special thank you to ALL who helped make this school look so beautiful over the summer. Some of you came to help Pablo and get ahead on your service hours. We have waived 10 of the 30 service hours this year to provide our school families some relief during this time. On Thursday, Nov 12, we will offer an optional ZOOM: Parent Retreat online with Msgr. Sal (earn up to 2 service hours). 6-8pm. Link will be sent at a later date. Mrs. Nakayama and Angelic Nunez-Scott, our PLC leads, will also be meeting with other PLC leads and sports coaches to discuss service hour opportunities in the spring. Stay tuned for more information and updates at our Back to School Night next week Wednesday.
