Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at St. Anthony of Padua! We are so excited that school is underway and hope that your child has had a wonderful week! For those that do not know me, I am Mrs. Jessica Garcia, the Music and Theatre Arts Teacher at St. Anthony of Padua School.
*Please note that the following plans are fluid and may change due to the health situation.
This year music will prepare grades to sing songs sung at Mass as well as develop their music theory and history skills. During the third trimester, classes will focus on musical theatre as we prepare for our annual classroom shows! This year there will be no official choir at Mass. However, students will still learn Mass music and will still be encouraged to sing during Mass.
3rd-8th grade will be invited to participate in our entirely after-school theatre program where we will prepare for our mainstage show Frozen Jr.! As some of you know, the show was cast in January 2020, but we have been unable to perform it due to Covid-19. We will have auditions to re-cast members who have either graduated or left the school in January. We are thrilled to have musical theatre return in 2022!
Music and Theatre Arts will begin Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Below, you will find a link to a google form syllabus acknowledgement. Please review the syllabus with your student(s) and submit the form through the link. Families with multiple children, please submit the form once and make sure to list all students at St. Anthony of Padua.
Beginning on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, I will start bringing the students outdoors so that we can spread out and sing without wearing masks. Please have your students bring a water bottle and a hat to music class. For hats, please try to wear colors that match their uniform (blue) or are neutral colors (white, black, gray, beige, etc.). Hats are optional, but encouraged.
Below you will find a music supply list for grades K-8. There is also a general supply list below that is optional, but we would love donations if possible! When donating an item, you can drop the supplies in the office with a bag labeled Music Room 5.
General Donation Supply List
Grades K-2:
Grades 3-8 (This doesn’t need to be dropped off, but students should have this for Music class)
The lab fee associated with this class is $15, which is included in your tuition contract. Such fees include instruments, music express magazine (curriculum for K-8), licensing and rights for the classroom shows.
If you would like to volunteer to help with certain music and theatre events, I would really appreciate the help. There is a Musical Theatre Committee to help with sets and props for our shows. If you are interested in participating during our shows, please be sure to mark “yes” on the online form.
To review, please fill out the form here and submit by Friday, September 3, 2021.
(Please turn one in per family and list all students attending St. Anthony of Padua)
Please Note: Your student receives a grade to ensure they have their online acknowledgement form turned in!
