Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
Our WASC/WCEA Accreditation Visit that was initially scheduled for March 2020 has been postponed to October 19-21, 2021. Our team of 4 members (administrators and teachers from other Catholic schools visited our campus on Friday, 10/1 for a pre-visit. Thank you to all the parents who reached out to me to volunteer to be on the Parent Panel to be interviewed by our team members during their 3-day visit. Please note that on 10/20, Bishop Trudeau will be celebrating Mass with our school while our team is here. We will be rescheduling the Futboleros show from 10/20 to another date in November when things settle down.
Pacific Toxicology will be on campus today on Mondays for weekly COVID-testing. Please sign up for testing online each Thursday using the link sent to you and type in 1890 for our school code. The technician will be on campus every Monday moving forward from 7:30-8:30am for COVID-testing when school is in session. This is optional, but we ask that those students and staff who are unvaccinated get tested more often, at least once or twice a week. You must sign up every Thursday, in advance. This is for students and staff or parent volunteers who work on campus only. October 11 No School in observance of Columbus Day.
Band for Today did not get enough interest in their band classes for woodwind and brass. It has been canceled. Parents will get refunds if they paid for the band. Detention will be on hold this week due to Noon Dismissals, and will resume the week after Parent Conferences.
We are still in need of volunteers for Yard Duty, Traffic Duty/Safety, and After School Care. If interested, please contact me and thank you for helping to keep our kids safe.
Our Fall Fundraiser had its last Trojan Drawing on Wednesday, 9/22. Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to Leah Nakayama and Angelic Nunez-Scott for your coordination of this outstanding fundraiser!
Parent Conference Week begins today. We will have NOON DISMISSALS this week from October 4-October 7, 2021. Friday, 10/8 is a STUDENT FREE DAY from classes, but teachers will continue to schedule a full day of parent conferences. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up with your child’s teacher. All parents must set up a meeting with teachers. We always aim to work with you in partnership to ensure that your child is met where they are, and that they are receiving the best possible education that St. Anthony’s can provide. If you ever have any concerns, please bring it up to your child’s teacher first, and if something needs more attention, I am happy to join the conversation as well, to resolve any issues. We are partners in education, but you, as parents, are your child’s first teacher. We are here to help you in your goal to raise your children to be Followers of Jesus, Academically Prepared, Socially Aware, and totally healthy in mind, body and spirit. These are also our School-wide Learning Expectations, also known as our SLEs.
October is the month of the Rosary. A devotion to Our Blessed Mother is a tradition that has long been embraced here at St. Anthony’s and all of our teachers and students will be doing various activities this month in order to help instill this special prayer and relationship with Our Lady to our children. I invite you as well to spend time praying the Rosary this month and to keep in mind the many special intentions of our school families. Special prayers for the Rubalcava Family. Mrs. R, our PE teacher lost her grandmother last week Sunday. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and may Perpetual Light Shine upon her. May she rest in Peace. Amen.
Mrs. Grey, Principal

CEF INITIATIVE
The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) was recently given a $5 million dollar grant from an anonymous donor. It is to help boost enrollment in Catholic Schools. We need everyone’s help in Marketing this to our parish families. If anyone is in the Publicity and Marketing PLC, we would love to have you help us promote this by speaking after weekend Masses or talking to Religious Education Families in English or Spanish to promote our school and this wonderful opportunity.
FAMILY INCOME SURVEY
Parents, please turn in your hard copies of Family Income Survey Forms to the school. All families are asked to complete this annually. One is a hard copy that the school uses for annual reports. This is due to the school ASAP. The other one you will do online is due 10/18 to LAUSD to help us qualify for Title Services through LAUSD. It’s the same form. These numbers are important for us to be able to see our eligibility to receive federal and state programs and funds and grants from donors. Thank you in advance for your help!
RALPH’S AND FOOD 4 LESS COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM
Just a reminder that our school is a member of the Community Rewards Programs for both Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores. For the Ralphs & the Food 4 Less Programs, you can opt in for the Community Rewards Program using your Ralphs or Food 4 Less Club Card, by following the directions to the email sent recently by Ms. Grimaldo. Please note that there is a different enrollment code for each of these stores. It is very important that you register the cards as soon as possible prior to the next time you use them, or the school will not receive benefits. Then please have the cashier scan the card or enter your ALT ID every time you make a purchase at Ralphs or Food 4 Less and we will receive a small percentage of each sale! We invite any parents or guardians who shop at Food 4 Less or Ralphs, even occasionally, to consider enrolling as this is an easy way to benefit the school without it costing you anything extra. We thank you in advance for your participation and thoughtfulness!
MORE SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITIES
Parents who volunteer on Saturdays (every 2-3 weeks) can earn service hours cleaning our school with the Interior Maintenance PLC. Please join the group! Please see the email blast that was sent out re: the dates when the Interior Maintenance PLC will meet. Thanks in advance!
