Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
We had a beautiful Blue Mass last week Friday and Msgr. Sal gave a special blessing to our police officers, firefighters, and first responders. Thank you to our Student Government, the 8th graders, and our amazing parent volunteers Francisca Gonzalez and Claudia Guzman, who helped with our reception in the Hall.
Pacific Toxicology was scheduled to be on campus today, 11/8, for the weekly on campus COVID-testing but was canceled due to low sign-ups. Please sign up for testing online each Thursday, using the link sent to you, and type in 1890 for our school code. The technician will be on campus every Monday from 7:30-8:30am for COVID-testing when school is in session. This is optional, but we ask that those students and staff who are unvaccinated get tested more often, at least once or twice a week. You must sign up every Thursday, in advance. Pacific Toxicology testing is for students and staff or parent volunteers who work on campus. If we don’t get 40 people to sign up by Thursday of each week, this on campus service will be canceled. You can still get free testing at the local YMCA in Gardena or Torrance or you can visit your medical provider.
As an update, our Hawaiian Raffle donor has discontinued this donation after 30+ years, so we will no longer be able to offer a trip to Hawaii each year. However, we will still be doing a Cash Raffle for our Winter Fundraiser. Families should be receiving their raffle tickets to sell. Each family will get at least $200 worth of cash raffle tickets, which are to be sold between now and Friday, December 10. Our drawing will take place after the annual Christmas Program on Wed, 12/15, which starts in the church at 6pm. The monies for these tickets are due by Friday, 12/10, and are part of each family’s mandatory fundraising requirement for the year. Please sell to your family and friends during the Thanksgiving break to give them a chance to win the Grand Prize of $2000! We will be doing our Express Feedback for Good (EFG) Campaign as well from 12/1-12/30. This is an easy way to raise up to $25,000 for our school! For every brand opinion survey we do online, HundredX will pay us $2! More info to come.
This week we have Virtus Training (see info below) at our parish. If you want to volunteer with our students, this is mandatory. We will also have ADLA Fingerprinting at our parish next Monday, 11/15. This is by appointment only, so call and sign up early! An email was sent with more info. Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on 11/11 and 11/12 in observance of Veterans’ Day.
Thank you to all who attended the Healing of the Family Tree Workshop this past Saturday. Special thanks to Mrs. Dyogi for bringing this great event to our parish! If you show proof of attendance, you can earn up to 2 service hours. Thank you to our Interior Maintenance PLC leads Claudia Guzman and Priscilla Ortiz and all our volunteers who helped clean our school this weekend!

SCHOOL DONATIONS AND SERVICE HOURS
For families looking to pay off their service hour commitment, our school gives the option to buy Scrip/gift cards and donate them to the school. We buy a lot of materials and supplies from Office Depot, Walmart, and Target for much needed supplies, so if you buy Scrip valued at $10/hour and donate it to the school to offset costs, we will credit your service hour account. Parents who volunteer on Saturdays (every 2-3 weeks) can earn service hours cleaning our school with the Interior Maintenance PLC. Please join the group! Please see the email blast that was sent out re: the dates when the Interior Maintenance PLC will meet. Thanks in advance! The next dates are Saturday, 12/4 and 1/8 from 12:30-3:30pm at the school.
SCRIP
One easy way to help you reach your $500 financial commitment is to purchase Scrip throughout the year. We accept credit cards in the office for your orders making it easier than ever! It’s basically buying gift cards to purchase things like groceries, gas, gifts, or things you need and want on a daily basis, but you can get fundraising credit for a portion of every gift card you buy! Work smarter, not harder! We have Scrip for Starbucks, Vons, Albertsons, Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Gardena Supermarket, and so much more! The Student Government is doing a service project to Adopt a Family in Need. Please purchase Scrip and donate it to this cause. More info to come from our Student Government!
KINDERGARTEN EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION IN DECEMBER
Starting December 1, we will be offering EARLY BIRD applications to St. Anthony Day Nursery Families and siblings of current SAP School families for incoming Kinder students for the 2022-2023 SY! Open Enrollment for other families begins 3/1/22. Please spread the word!
EFG December 1-30, 2021
Our school has been asked to do another fundraiser during the month of December for Express Feedback for Good! We can earn up to $25,000 from HundredX in one short month! Last year we earned $50,000, and this money was used to buy air purifiers for all classrooms and touchless water bottle fillers, which are now installed throughout our school. More info on this exciting opportunity is forthcoming. We won’t need to ask anyone for MONEY for this fundraiser, only their TIME. Thank you for your continued support of SAP!
