Dear First Grade Families,
Blessed Sunday! Below is all the information that you and your child will need for this week, 11/22-11/27. Please make sure to read all information to avoid questions that are clearly stated on this email.
Homework
No homework for this week due to short week!
Uniform
Parents, please refer to our handbook for details about the uniform to avoid uniform infractions, I will be giving out uniform infractions to those students that are not wearing the correct or proper uniform. Mrs. Grey mentioned yesterday morning that girls can’t have nail polish and boys’ shirts MUST be tucked in their pants. All students must wear our school sweaters/ jackets or navy-blue jacket or gray SLE sweater. I won’t be sending notes anymore but instead a uniform infraction.
Money
Parents, if you are sending your child money for lunch or anything related to “grams”, kindly send it straight to the office in the morning. If lunch money is not sent to the office before 9am, they will not be counted.
Any money related to our classroom activities such as donations, etc., kindly put it in your child’s homework folder.
Any money you sent, please make sure to place it in an envelope with your child’s name, grade and what’s the money for.
Volunteers needed
Parents, to prevent accidents happening during lunch time, we need more active adults to watch our students. Our first grader class need volunteers to watch them during lunch. We are asking for more parents to come out and volunteer to help with lunch duty supervision every day from Monday-Friday from 12 noon-1pm.
If you are in need of service hours, or if you just have an hour to spare to help the school during lunch time, we would love to have you on campus! The kids are always excited to see their parent on the yard! 🙂
Reminder you DO need to be fingerprinted, Virtus trained, and the office needs a copy of your Covid Vaccine or a negative COVID-test result for the week.

Extra Snacks & Water donations
Our firsties get hungry and thirsty during the day and our class doesn’t have daily supply of snacks and water for all of them. Our class would greatly appreciate any donation of snacks (healthy, non-sugary food that is nut-free, because of individual dietary restrictions) and 8 oz water bottles for our first graders.
2nd Trimester Expectations
All our firsties are doing an AWESOME job and I’m very proud of them! This is the time when our expectations grow to further our preparations for the next grade level. Here are some of the expectations that I am looking out for:
- All first graders should know how to write their FULL NAME.
- First AND last name on ALL assignments. (Part of work habit grade)
- The date on ALL assignments (written as November 15, 2021 OR 11/15/2021)
- An uppercase/capital letter at the beginning of EVERY sentence.
- Correct punctuations or end mark (period, exclamation point, or question mark) at the end of EVERY sentence.
- All first graders should read for AT LEAST 20-30 minutes every day at home. Raz kids or Seesaw Word Study Decodable (NOTE: This means that if the students read one book and it only takes them 10 minutes, they should read another book to complete their 20 minutes of reading as a practice!)
- All first graders should know some of our prayers, Sign of the Cross, Our Father, and Hail Mary.
- All first graders should follow all classroom rules and school, Tribes agreements without being reminded inside and outside the classroom
- All first graders should be able to submit their own work on Seesaw and put it in the correct folder.
- All students must be able to navigate through Seesaw, Raz-kids, & Freckle apps on their own.
- All first graders should turn-in their blue homework folders every day and their homework on Thursdays by themselves in order to help them be more responsible. The first graders are doing a great job with this so far, and I want them to continue to work on being more responsible each and every day!
- I am encouraging all students to meet these expectations every day, and it would be helpful if you could also encourage your child to work with these expectations at home too!
