Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you had a wonderful Feast Day celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe yesterday! We are now into our 3rd week of Advent, and this week is our final week of school before our 3-week Christmas break. School resumes for all students on January 10, 2022. Please note that Monday, January 17, is a holiday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be NO SCHOOL that day.
Today we have our Pacific Toxicology testing on campus from 7:30-8:30am. Then we are having our grades 3-8 School Advent Penance Service with Msgr. Sal Pilato, Fr. Joseph McShane, and some visiting priests at 8:45 am in the church. If you have a child in grades 3-8, please remind them to always do a thorough Examination of Conscience before they go to Confession. This goes for adults as well. The Laudate App has a great Confession tool on the app for adults, children, and those who are single or married. This Penance service is for students only. Parents can come to Confession on Saturdays. Please see the church bulletin for more information. Please also make sure to socially distance and wear your masks indoors.
This Wednesday, 12/15, is the Christmas Program in the church, from 6-8pm. After that we will have the Cash Raffle drawing with the grand prize of $2000. Families are asked to dress warm in your Christmas red attire, wear your masks, and bring money for the Tastyblock Fundraiser from 3-6pm. We will also have Nana’s Tacos with their taco cart on campus from 4-9pm. We will open the Hall for those who want to give EFG feedback and hang out with your Tastyblock treats with others from 3-5:30pm! We will have crafts for the kids in the Hall. Call time for students is 5:30pm that day, so come early! Student Government will be selling hot chocolate from 7:20-7:45 that morning. I want to thank Mrs. Garcia, all our teachers and staff, Mr. Rubalcava, and the students for all their hard work and dedication to helping us remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
Our EFG Fundraiser continues to 12/30/21. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up, spread the word, and try to do 75 brand opinion surveys per adult to become a Superstar. Each Superstar equals 2 service hours for your family (up to 10 hours)! Our goal is to raise $10,000 more past our initial $25,000 goal so we can buy school bleachers, an electronic scoreboard, and maybe even a playground awning! Congratulations for reaching our goal. The whole school will have a pizza and ice cream party! Thank you for all your support! Moving forward, each brand opinion survey will give our school $1. I hope you will join us in reaching our new goal of $35,000 over the next few weeks. Every bit counts!
Saturday, January 15, from 8am-4pm, is our Kindergarten Round-Up (in-person interviews and ESGI testing) for new Kinder students from St. Anthony’s preschool and siblings of current SAP students. All other general applicants must wait until March 1, 2022 to be considered. Turn in your paperwork and $50 application fee by 12/16 to avoid disappointment. If accepted, you will secure your child’s seat in the 2022-2023 Kindergarten class by the end of February 2022!
I look forward to seeing you all on 12/15. Please note any travel advisories during the holiday season and follow all county health guidelines. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday. Merry Christmas everyone and Happy 2022!
Mrs. Grey, Principal

SCHOOL DONATIONS AND SERVICE HOURS
For families looking to pay off their service hour commitment, our school gives the option to buy Scrip/gift cards and donate them to the school. We buy a lot of materials and supplies from Office Depot, Walmart, and Target for much needed supplies, so if you buy Scrip valued at $10/hour and donate it to the school to offset costs, we will credit your service hour account. Parents who volunteer on Saturdays (every 2-3 weeks) can earn service hours cleaning our school with the Interior Maintenance PLC. Please join the group! Please see the email blast that was sent out re: the dates when the Interior Maintenance PLC will meet. Thanks in advance! The next date is 1/8 from 12:30-3:30pm at the school.
TEACHING TOUCHING SAFETY (TTS) FORMS AND LAUSD PARENT AUTHORIZATION FORMS DUE by Friday, 12/16
We are very happy each year to conduct the “Teaching Touching Safety” Classes to our students. This is a course that we teach by mid-February each year, and it covers an age-appropriate curriculum to bring awareness to students regarding issues of sexual abuse and dangers. It teaches them the lines of “appropriateness” within particular contexts and how to avoid and respond to possible situations that could endanger them. *PERMISSIONS SLIPS WERE SENT HOME LAST WEEK AND MUST BE RETURNED BY FRIDAY, December 16 so lessons can start in January after the break. Thanks in advance!
IMMUNIZATION REPORTS AND VACCINATIONS
Routine vaccination is an essential preventive care service for children, adolescents, and adults that should not be delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 7th graders should have their more recent TDAP shots. Parents, if you haven’t already, please submit these forms to the office along with your child’s most recent vaccination record. You can email them to Mrs. Sarah Ray and me at sray1@stanthonygardena.org and agrey@stanthonygardena.org. If your child has the COVID vaccine, please submit proof to the school. Weekly testing is encouraged for all unvaccinated individuals. Those vaccinated do not need to quarantine or test unless they have symptoms or were a direct contact to a positive case.
EFG FUNDRAISER DECEMBER 1-30, 2021
Our school has been given the incredible opportunity to raise $10,000 more, since we reached our initial $25,000 goal! From now till 12/30 every survey you do from the safety and comfort of your home on your phone or computer will earn us $1! If each adult in your family over 18 did the maximum of 75 surveys per person, each adult in your household could become a Superstar and earn $75 for our school! Each Superstar is worth 2 service hours. Join us in the Hall for a Holiday Feedback Party for families to work on their brand opinions for EFG from 3-5:30 on 12/15 to earn up to $35,000 TOTAL!. Every 1 minute survey could earn our school $1! Students must be at school by 5:30pm for the Christmas program on 12/15. Tastyblock will also be on campus from 3-6pm and Nana’s Tacos (taco cart will serve food at 4pm), so plan accordingly with your family.
