Good afternoon First Grade families,
Here is our schedule and some reminders for tomorrow’s class. I appreciate all your continued patience and understanding during this time. As per Mrs. Grey’s email, once we find out how many staff and students tested positive this week, we can make a decision from there on how to proceed in the following days or weeks. We are taking things day by day this week. Please be ready to possibly work remotely on Zoom for the rest of the week. Once again, please read the reminders carefully to avoid any questions that are clearly explained in this email.
BINDER
If you weren’t able to pick up your child’s binder today, you may pick it up tomorrow from 7:30-8:30am before our Zoom class. It will be outside our 163rd gate. Please check the number on the binder and make sure it’s your child’s number. Your child will need the binder during our Zoom sessions tomorrow.
Today’s work (due by 7pm)
I have sent back a lot of today’s work on Seesaw. Kindly make sure that your child follows the instructions given to get a credit. All of the activities assigned today must be done on Seesaw. No need to print or use a notebook. All activities can be done using the app. Some of the activities require them to read and record, please check your child’s work before submitting.

DAILY ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION (WORK HABITS)
I will take attendance based on who is present on our zoom sessions. Our zoom session for this week will start at 8:30am but for tomorrow I will start at 9:00am just to give enough time to those families that still need to pick up their child’s binder. Students must complete their attendance and writing journal on SEESAW by 9am before joining my Zoom. Currently, our live zoom class is our temporary classroom setting. Although we are not physically in a classroom, we will follow the same routines and schedule as much as possible. Wednesday schedule is still not yet finalized, I will keep you updated.
ZOOM PROCEDURES
All students are required to attend my daily Zoom class. Attending the live Zoom lessons allows students a chance to interact with their classmates and teachers and can increase engagement. It also allows for students to receive immediate feedback. Their participation and work habits will be part of their grades, and for me to grade that, I need to see them in my daily zoom class.
ZOOM RULES
1. Show up 5 mins before the class time and wait to be admitted into class.
2. Find a quiet place, free of distractions (siblings, television, pets, etc.) (Parent or adult supervision is recommended during the sessions) No inappropriate pictures on the screen saver.
3. Change out of your Pj’s to your complete school uniform and be ready for class.
4. Use the restroom before sessions.
5. Devices must be FULLY CHARGED. All students MUST wear their headphones/ earphones during sessions.
6. Sit down quietly with your eyes on the camera.
7. Listen Attentively and follow directions
8. Be respectful in your speaking, writing and actions.
9. Do not talk while the teacher or others are talking.
10. Stay on MUTE. Use hand signals or click the “raise hand” button if you would like to participate or have any questions.
11. Video needs to remain ON to promote focus.
12. NO eating, chewing gum or drinking during class
13. NO toys, blankets, pillows or anything that will cause distraction to your self or peers.
14. Stay ON TASK.
ZOOM ACCOUNT NAME
If you can also help me change the zoom account’s name to your child’s number and name, it will be easier for us to take attendance. (STUDENTS # & NAME)
e.g. # 36 Nicole Martinez
CLASS INTERRUPTIONS
Please remind your child to use the restroom and have all the learning materials ready before we start our zoom sessions to avoid interruptions.
WORKSTATION
I recommend setting up a space in your home dedicated to learning, keeping all materials stored in one safe space and keeping distractions to a minimum. A quiet, supervised, place to study. Students that are not in a work friendly environment are more distracted. It affects them greatly and they tend to lose focus.
UNIFORM
We will be requiring students to wear uniform tops during their live Zoom sessions. Failure to do so will result to uniform infraction.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Ms. Martinez
