Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to all who attended our 11am Family Mass yesterday to kick off Catholic Schools’ Week! We have many exciting activities this week. Since we had no in-person Open House this year, all our teachers made some terrific videos of their classrooms and we will be sharing them virtually with prospective families who are inquiring about our school. These videos are also on our teachers’ blogs. If you have any referrals, please forward them to the front office and you can earn some great incentives! I will be giving private scheduled tours or meet with families via Zoom to answer any questions for any of your friends or other families you may know, who would like to attend our school.
Today is also the first day of Black History Month. Teachers will be doing activities in their classrooms this month to celebrate this wonderful time of year when we remember the important people and events in the history of Black Americans in every area throughout our history.
Can you believe next Wednesday, 2/9, will be our 100th Day of School? Then Re-registration for our current students for next school year will take place online this year for one week from February 22-25. Also, don’t forget to pre-order your yearbook while supplies last! It’s certainly a year to remember.
Now that the January surge is over, we are happy to see our COVID numbers going down. Weekly COVI- testing is optional, yet we still encourage the unvaccinated or those who have not yet had Omicron to get tested weekly. Mrs. Nakayama will be offering on campus drive through testing again this Saturday, February 5. After school activities will resume this week. As we reopen Daycare, we will limit the amount of students. We will give priority to those who have NO alternative daycare options and those who need 4-5 days of childcare each week. Our rates are still $12/day per child, but next year the rate will go up to $15/day, to keep up with the rising costs and the minimum wage increase. Our Daycare Coordinator, Mrs. Pattie Padilla, will reach out directly to those families who are “regulars” in after school care, needing 4-5 days a week of care first. We will have 12 children per adult, and we will try our best to keep families and grade levels together to avoid commingling. Those parents in the Daycare PLC, please sign up if you can volunteer in daycare. Amy Lucas Palanca is our Parent Leadership Committee Chair for Daycare. This is a great way to earn your 10 service hours per trimester per family.
Happy Catholic Schools’ Week! Your child’s teachers sent out a schedule with all the exciting and fun activities from 1/31-2/4. From Student Appreciation Day on Monday to Special Persons’ Day on Friday 2/4 with lunch available for purchase from Nana’s Tacos.

SCHOOL DONATIONS AND SERVICE HOURS THROUGH INTERIOR MAINTENANCE
For families looking to pay off their service hour commitment, our school gives the option to buy Scrip/gift cards and donate them to SAP. We buy a lot of materials and supplies from Office Depot, Walmart/Sam’s Club, and Target for much needed supplies, so if you buy Scrip valued at $10/hour and donate it to the school to offset costs, we will credit your service hour account. (Next year our service hours will be worth $15/hr. to keep up with the minimum wage.) Parents who volunteer on Saturdays (every 2-3 weeks) can earn service hours cleaning our school with the Interior Maintenance PLC. Please join the group. Thanks in advance! The next few Saturdays are February 5 and February 19. Then March 12 and March 26, April 2 and April 9, and May 7 and May 21.
