Dear first grade families,
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a blessed weekend with their families. Here is all the information that you and your child will need for this week. I ask that you please read all of the information I post or email along with all of the attachments. I am being asked questions that are covered in detail by the e-mail and posts that I have put out.
Band app
Our room parents have sent out invitations regarding our first grade band app. Band app is a great communication tool for parents. If you have any questions about homework and I am not able to respond to you, you can reach out to our room parents. They can also update you with anything regarding our class. I encourage all first grade families to join our band app. Here is the qr code to join. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gGI2A3DCsaPmrevdOVrLGXd7k-vB8jxE/view?usp=sharing
Out on Thursday- Mrs. Veronica Patel will sub
I will be out on Thursday, Sept. 15th due to a minor neck surgery. Mrs. Veronica Patel will be subbing for me and Sr. Deliah will be aiding her. Please help me remind your child to show their best behavior and show respect to our sub- teachers. I will make sure to do the same. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me and I’ll try my best to respond to you as soon as I can. I should be back on the next day Friday, Sept. 16th.
Finalized Roster
Our roster is finalized! Please make sure to check our rosters posted outside our classroom for your child’s class number.
MATERIALS
This week, I will start sending effort slips if your child is not prepared in class. Students must bring the following materials daily.
- Blue homework folder
- IPad/tablet & headphones in a Ziploc bag TOGETHER
Homework
I will start assigning homework this week! Every Monday, your child will have a homework list in their blue homework folder. This must be signed and returned every day. Your child’s daily homework includes Math, Sight Words and Reading. You may use the homework list to keep track of your child’s daily assignments. I recommend following the daily schedule provided on the homework weekly list that help the students manage their activities better.
MATH pages are due every day. We check it everyday and record it on Friday. We will use the Go Math Standard’s Practice book as our homework for Math. I will assign the pages every day, you will see the pages on the homework list. Students MUST rip the assigned pages; they must write their name and place it in blue homework folder each day. Please staple each page with the homework list to avoid misplacing it. Go Math Practice books will be distributed on Monday.
Daily SIGHT WORD activities are due every Thursdays by 4-9pm. Students must practice it daily. 1 activity per day. The sight word list and sight word menu is in your child’s homework folder.
Students must post all 4 activities on Seesaw, 1 post, 4 pages with dates on each activity. Pictures/ videos are accepted. If they do handwritten activities, using front and back pages of their notebooks will help students utilize all the space in their notebooks! Here are some examples from my previous students.

Parents, some students have similar headphones or iPad cases. To avoid confusion, I would like to ask all parents to put their child’s iPad/tablet and headphones in a gallon /2 gallon size Ziplock bag or any size of Ziploc that can fit both your child’s ipad and headphones inside. Kindly label this bag with your child’s name. Please see an example from one of our first grade. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NuBv7wm3ZomiH7WO1q0uc04dauZtpZ-q/view?usp=sharing

ST MATH, Freckle & Epic!
ST Math is not part of your child’s daily homework. ST MATH is only for classroom use and is part of our math classroom grade. I have instructed all students about this already. I can track students ST MATH log in activities. If you want your child to do some extra practice at home, they may access Freckle for Math and ELA and practice reading on EPIC! app.
Lunch/Snack
Parents, please tell your child what’s inside their lunch bags every day, what food they’ll eat snack or lunch. Our first graders usually come out 5-10 mins before 12pm. This allows us to have enough time to wash our hands and get food from the cafeteria.
Counseling
