Hello Third Grade Parents!
Homework and Class Behavior
This week I will be starting to send home weekly bulletins for the students. On the front side of the sheet is their homework schedule along with assessments for the week. (Same information will be posted daily on Google classroom). I will also be including a section for behavior which they will color in each day. Each child starts on green and can either go up to blue, then pink or go down to yellow then red. They will be coloring in how they ended the day and there is a space to sign daily for you to keep track of your child’s behavior. As mentioned before, I hope to partner with each of you in helping your child succeed. These will need to be put into the green folder for homework revision on Friday.
Math and English workbook homework will be reviewed the following day in class, so it is important that they do their homework. They will be reviewed and graded on Friday, so if something happens where your child cannot get to it one night or has prior obligations, everything will need to be completed no later than Friday. They will also turn in all vocabulary worksheets and organized math lessons into their green folder for revision on Friday as well.
In order to help the students review and cement new knowledge, their math workbook homework usually will be a page of questions from the previous lesson and questions from the topic covered in class that day.
Test Corrections
Today you will be getting back their corrected tests. If your child has gotten a 70% or lower on a test, please sign it and return it the following day, so I know you are aware of the grade. Your child can correct his/her vocabulary comprehension test (NOT SPELLING) and return it to me for ½ credit per question corrected.
Not to worry if your child got a 70% or lower on their first tests. I will be giving weekly tests and class assignments, so they will have many chances to raise their grades. The tests will be the same formats, so future tests will most likely be easier for the children.
Uniform, hair, and nails
This week all teachers will begin giving out uniform infractions. Students must wear their complete school uniforms. Please work with your student on tucking in their shirts (girls included). Please check the school handbook for details on uniform, hair, socks, shoes, jackets and accessories
Alter Server Training
Email me if your child is interested in training to be an alter server and I will provide more information.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Back to School Night, Wed. Sept 21
9/21 is our Back to School Night in person in the Hall at 6:30pm. Teachers will host two identical 15-minutes sessions in their classroom after our General Parent Meeting. Please find a sitter for your children, no daycare is available.
This is the first of three mandatory parent meetings throughout the year. Non-participation will result in a $50 fine every time, per the tuition contract you each signed. Please try to find childcare so you can attend. Additionally, I will have a sign up/attendance sheet for the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences October 10th-14th in the classroom.
Vicki Marsha Uniform will be on campus that day in Rm 6, and we will also be passing out chocolates for our Fall Candy Sale that week in Rm 5. Stay tuned for more details. Come early to sign in for credit and pick up your chocolates in Rm 5 (tentatively).
