Dear first grade families,
Blessed Saturday! I hope everyone is having a blessed weekend with their families. Here is all the information that you and your child will need for this week 9/26-9/30. I ask that you please read all of the information I post or email along with all of the attachments. I am being asked questions that are covered in detail by the e-mail and posts that I have put out. Incomplete/ Missing homework
Please check Gradelink for your child’s updated grades. I have some students that are marked INC for their Raz-kids homework. Some students didn’t record their book on Raz kids. I’ll be waiting till tomorrow at 1pm to receive a full credit for these incomplete assignments.
Homework
Please make sure to follow the daily assignment on our homework weekly list that will be sent on Monday. Kindly sign the homework list and your child’s behavior chart daily

- Reading- 2 Raz-kids’ books (listen, read, record & quiz)
- Word Study- 2 Word Study decodable on Seesaw (listen, read, record & highlight words with short a, i, and o.
- 4 Sight words notebook activities- Week 5 (Students must use their September menu, choose DIFFERENT activities every day)

TESTS
Students will be tested weekly on Word Study/Phonics & Fluency/Sight Words every Friday. Parents can help their child by reviewing the topics we learned for that week.

Picture day- Tues. Sept 27
On Tuesday, we will have our picture day. Students MUST come to school wearing complete FORMAL MASS UNIFORMS, CAMERA READY. Make sure their uniforms are complete and that hair is combed as you want it to be photographed.
SHEA FAMILY CHARITIES -Thank you letters (Grade for Grammar & Writing, Art) due on Wednesday, Sept 28th
I will be sending thank you letter templates and each student will write a thank you letter to SHEA FAMILY CHARITIES for their amazing grant to our school that gave us a new soccer field, modernized our offices and 11 classrooms! Students will address the letter to SHEA FAMILY CHARITIES. Students can color and design this letter. Inside the box, they will draw a picture of them and our school. Deadline will be on Wednesday, Sept. 28th.

Blue mass- Friday, Sept. 30
Our Annual BLUE MASS will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 8am.
Help us celebrate the heroic men and women in our community, who serve and protect us daily. Police, Fire, Sheriff, and the medical responders will be celebrated at this special mass.
We would like for you to share with your family member, neighbor, friend, colleagues to attend this special Mass.A reception hosted by our Junior High students will immediately follow the Mass.
Please rsvp to the school office on or before Monday, September 26, 2022.

Parent-Teacher Conference (Oct. 10th-13th)
If you were not able to sign up for parent-teacher conference, please contact me directly. I’ll give you the available slots. You will have the opportunity to ask me questions and I will also discuss your child’s progress and STAR test results.
Uniforms & Accessories
For Picture Day, all students should have their ties and sweaters/vests for the picture taking. What is expected of them on Picture Day is the expected uniform every Mass Day on Fridays or at our 8am All School Weekly Mass.
Some students hand windbreakers and grey FAST sweatshirts. Vests and cardigans only in the church. They can wear the other jackets and sweaters after Mass or Mondays-Thursdays. Everyone should look uniform at church on this formal dress up days.
The Oxford shirts that are from Vicki Marsha must be used. It must be an official shirt from VMU.
Shoes should not have fluorescent or bright colors. Combat boots are not allowed.
Girls cannot have nail polish and highlights in girls’ hair are not allowed.
Boys’ hair should be neatly groomed or cut to regulation. If it’s cultural, they can keep their long hair, but it must be neatly groomed and out of the face. Hair for boys and girls should be out of the eyes and away from the ears.
Jewelry is allowed if it’s religious: ex: a crucifix pendant on a necklace, a rosary bracelet, a religious piece of jewelry. No excessive jewelry or rubber bracelets that go all the way up an arm, no friendship bracelets except on free dress days.
Individuality can be expressed on free dress days within free dress guidelines as deemed appropriate by the school.
3 uniform will equal to detention and this affects the Work Habits grade and Citizenship
