Good Afternoon Kindergarten Families,
Happy Weekend! We had quite a full week ending with our Guardian Angel Retreat on Friday. As a class, we visited the church where Monsignor welcomed us and graciously answered so many questions! I hope your children enjoyed making their Guardian Angel puppets and crowns.
We will be attending our first school Mass on October 28th. Please work with your child on genuflecting and the Sign of the Cross. We practiced genuflecting in the classroom, before entering the pews in Church as a sign of reverence to the Blessed Sacrament and again when we exited to honor the presence of Jesus Christ.
This week we are hard at work. We continue our alphabet with AlphaFriends and are working toward mastering the sight words I, like, am, the, can, and, and see. Having worked on numbers 0-5 this past week, we will be focusing on ordering numbers to 10 and modeling addition to 10. We will also have our first math test. In reading, we are focusing on identifying characters and setting.
In Religion, we have been working on the sign of the cross, stilling our bodies as we say our prayer before meals (snack and lunch) and the Guardian Angel prayer at dismissal.
Monday, October 3rd
The Shea Family, Bishop Trudeau and other donors will be on campus at 10:00 am for the school’s ribbon cutting. Our Kindergarteners did their best work making thank you cards for the school’s renovations.
Curriculum
The kindergarten curriculum map is available on the school website found here. It is our yearly guilde, but can change slightly throughout the year as needed.
Green Folders
Please remove any papers sent home from your child’s folder daily and review them together. The October monthly packet is due on October 31st and will be sent home on Monday. Please read the attached neon yellow note.
Conferences
As a reminder, the week of 10/10-10/4 will be noon dismissal due to parent teacher conferences. Thank you everyone for signing up. During this time, I will be discussing progress reports and reviewing STAR test results.
Uniform and Accessories
Please refer to our Parent-Student Handbook for uniform policies which includes hair accessories, socks and shoes. I’m still seeing some Kindergarteners not wearing the correct uniform. Girls wearing jumpers and skirts MUST wear lycra modesty shorts as part of their uniform (https://vickimarsha.com/st-anthony-of-padua-school/girls-uniforms/kindergarten.html). Thank you to the parents who have emailed me regarding delays in Vicki Marsha deliveries.
