10/10-10/14 Homework & Reminders

Dear first grade families,

Hope everything is well! Here is all the information that you and your child will need for the week of 10/10-10/14.  I ask that you please read all of the information I post or email along with all of the attachments. I am being asked questions that are covered in detail by the e-mail and posts that I have put out. 10/10-10/14 NOON DISMISSAL (PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE)

This week will be noon dismissal, daycare is offered from 12-6pm. Last week, I sent reminder cards, please arrive on time. Each family is given 15 mins time slot, if you arrive 10 mins late, you will be rescheduled to the following week. I will be discussing your child’s STAR test results and progress report. Please keep in mind that the progress report is just a snapshot of where your child is at right now. Final Grades will be given at the end of the 1st trimester.

ALL SCHOOL MASS ON THURSDAY, OCT. 13^TH- FEAST OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Our all school mass this week will be on Thursday, October 13^th instead of Friday. Students MUST come to school with their COMPLETE Formal Mass uniform.

First Grade Survey

I welcome feedback on how your year is going and how together we can make first grade a positive growth year. This may be too early to ask for an evaluation but I would still like to hear your voice in case you did not have a chance to comment, ask, or suggest at our Back to School Night. This will be anonymous. Homework
Please make sure to follow the daily assignment on our homework weekly list that will be sent on Monday. Kindly sign the homework list and your child’s behavior chart daily

• Math- Please see homework weekly list (Please avoid doing advance pages)
• Reading- 2 Raz-kids’ books (listen, read, record & quiz)
• Word Study- 2 Word Study decodable on Seesaw (listen, read, record & highlight words with short vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
• 4 Sight words notebook activities- Week 7 (Students must use their OCTOBER menu, choose DIFFERENT activities every day)

TESTS
Students will be tested weekly on Word Study/Phonics & Fluency/Sight Words every Friday. Parents can help their child by reviewing the topics we learned for that week.

•  Go Math Chapter 2 (TUESDAY)
• Word Study- Words with short vowels
• Sight Words- Week 7
• Vocabulary- Lesson 5
• Comprehension- Gus Takes the Train

Saint Plate Project & Report DUE on Oct 31^st.

Instructions, template and report sheet was sent home Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 (1 month of prep for project.

Each student received the following materials:

1. Ziploc with number
2. Report instructions & rubric
3. Report sheet
4. Saint stencil
5. Paper plate

Please read the instructions below.

Saint Plate Project

1. With the help of a parent, student will research about their assigned Saint (catholic.org, usccb.org)
2. Complete the attached report sheet. (Paper plate & Ziploc will also be provided)
3. Include a photo or drawing on report sheet.
4. Cut out the report and glue them onto one side of the plate provided.
5. Using the stencil, create your Saint on the other side of the plate.
6. Students will bring their project to school and submit on Oct. 31^st.

* Please involve your child in making their own projects. *

Please use these as a reference, the reporting will be done in the classroom not on Seesaw.

Dress-Up

On November 1st, Students may come to school dressed up as ANY Saint.

Saint costumes do not need to be elaborate! Students will process in Mass with the school in their costumes. Costumes should go over your child’s school uniform, as we will be changing in the classroom after Mass. This will be part of their Religion participation grade. 

Uniforms & Accessories

Please refer to our Parent-Student handbook for any uniform policies. I’m still seeing some first graders not wearing the correct and complete uniform.
3 uniform infraction will equal to detention and this affects the Work Habits grade and Citizenship
