Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
Last week we had Parent Teacher Conferences. I hope you and your child were able to meet with his/her teacher to come up with an action plan to help your child thrive this school year. Please schedule follow up meetings as needed throughout the year. We thank you for your continued partnership!
On 10/14 Vision to Learn was on campus distributing free glasses to all qualifying students. There were 9 students who did not receive glasses last Friday, but VTL will be back on campus this Tuesday morning, 10/18, to distribute the rest of the glasses. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
We pray for a safe trip for our First graders who go to Ocean Institute today. 5th grade will be going there as well this Thursday and Friday for an overnight field trip from 10/20-10/21. We pray for safety on their trip to Dana Point and ask their guardian angels to be with them.
Ms. Sardina and Mr. Zahn will be going on a PLACE Corps retreat this week starting the afternoon of 10/20-10/21. We pray for them as well on this very special weekend.
Our Fall Candy Sale continues. Those who turned in their money by last Friday, 10/14, will qualify for the Second and Final Trojan Drawings. This last prize drawing will take place this Wed, 10/19 at 1:10pm on Zoom. More info will come from Angelic Nunez-Scott and Monica Torres, our Candy Sale PLC leads. The Zoom link will be sent to parents who want to join in.
Our Resident Principal, Mr. Lynch, continues to do uniform inspections on campus. As stated in our meeting and to your children in person, three (3) uniform infractions equal one detention. A detention disqualifies a child from earning Citizenship in that particular trimester. Please make sure your child is following all uniform guidelines. We ask all parents to read the Parent Student Handbook with their child and pay close attention to the school’s uniform policy. Administration reserves the right to make the final call on what is appropriate and not appropriate, according to the policy and ADLA uniform guidelines for Catholic schools. Students can express individuality on Free Dress Days, as long as they are within the free dress guidelines. Students may not have colored or dyed hair or blonde highlights–natural hair colors only.
Thank you to all who attended our Adoremus event on 10/14, as well as to all our parent volunteers who helped out with the Italian Catholic Federation Dinner on Sat, 10/15. The volunteers will earn service hours for their time.

Thomas Lynch, Resident Principal

4 MANDATORY MEETINGS THIS YEAR (See Tuition Contract)
Parents, when you registered online for your child over the last 2 years, we have had on our tuition contract 4 mandatory parent meetings. To clarify, 3 are the General parent meetings held in Sept, Feb, and May. The 4th mandatory parent meeting is parent faith formation in November, per Msgr. Sal’s request. This November, we offer an opportunity on 11/8 from 10:30am-12 noon. For those who can’t make it, we have two other options. One on 10/29 on Spiritual Warfare. Those who cannot make it or choose not to attend that event have the option to attend another event a week earlier on 10/22 called the “Truth of the Cross” in the Hall from 12-7pm. A third option is to attend a speech during school hours on John Paul II in the Hall with the Junior high students. It’s on 11/8 from 10:30-12. All 3 options are available to parents to meet this mandatory requirement and not be fined $50. For this year, 2 SERVICE HOURS will also be given for all 3 options, which includes ONE FREE ticket to the 10/29 event. Any questions, please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
DAYCARE/LOST AND FOUND
Daycare is NOT the room for lost and found items anymore. Some parents have been seen walking into daycare and are sifting through the belongings of the daycare students. Lost and Found is now in the office. Parents, please be sure to label all your children’s uniforms and belongings. Things that are not claimed in a month will be put in the Gently Used Uniform boxes and other items will be donated to charity.
