Dear Kindergarten families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break! Here is all the information you and your child will need for the week of ending 12/2.
Citizenship Awards & Ceremony
For a student to receive a Citizenship award, a student should earn 0’s (Outstanding = 92-100%) on both work habits and behavior grades. Therefore, students’ daily behavior, participation, attendance, tardies and work habits are IMPORTANT factors in receiving an award. Today, I discussed with students how ST Math impacts Work Habits. Starting the 2nd trimester, ST Math will also be taken into consideration.
Please know that if your child doesn’t earn Citizenship this trimester, there’s still a chance to earn it in the next two trimesters.
Our All School Mass and 1st Trimester Awards Assembly will take place in the Church this
Friday, 12/2, starting at 8am. As a reminder, we ask that all who enter our church, the House of God, should be respectful at all times. Men should remove their hats, and there should be no gum chewing, eating of food or drinking in the church. During the awards ceremony, we ask that you hold your applause till the end of the calling out of names for each class.
Adopt A Family Service Project (Nov-December)
We are adopting a special family- The Perez Family. They have been experiencing financial difficulties since the pandemic. We want to give them a memorable Christmas. This will require some sacrifice, but we will do it for Jesus. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of these least of mine, you did it for me.”
Learn more about the family and the family member or household items we have been assigned as a class. Open the Perez Family Profile. If you have time, please watch the 5-minute Adopt-a-Family video that summarizes this program.
Thank you to the Kindergarten families who have already generously signed up. An empty wrapped box will be near the morning crate for you to put your wrapped gifts. Gayla, the 8 month old youngest daughter of the Perez family, is who Kindergarten was assigned to provide gifts for. All of Gayla’s slots have been filled but please feel free to sign up for any other open slot. Please be sure to label your wrapped gift. You can click on the Sign-up Genius to sign-up to buy a gift for your particular family member.
Students are encouraged to go shopping with their parents and help wrap the gift. Challenge your child to make a sacrifice, if necessary: “I will ask for fewer presents for myself so that I can get a gift for Jessenia.” Click on the Instructions for Purchasing Gifts doc to review the guidelines- wrap it, label it and bring it to class.
Toys, Candy and Other Items
I’ve discussed with students how toys and other items are not to be kept in their pockets or taken out of their backpacks during school hours. Recently, toys from home and candy have fallen out of pockets. These items were placed in student’s backpacks. Going forward, these items will be placed in the class “June box” where items will be returned in June.
Scholastic Book Orders
On Monday, Scholastic book orders were sent home. If you would like to receive books by December 16th, orders must be placed by tomorrow, November 30th. Thank you to the orders already placed as it also helps grow our classroom library.
