Dear Kindergarten families
Hoping that everyone is having a blessed weekend!
We had quite a week starting with our field trip to the Long Beach Aquarium and ending with a visit from the Leprechaun on Friday. Thank you to our parent chaperones for all your help! We couldn’t have done it without you. I appreciate everyone getting the permission slips in and lunches in ziplock bags.
The sneaky Leprechaun did a desk check and left behind a surprise! Hopefully, everyone will keep their desks tidy as we now await the Desk Fairy! Red “catch-up/ketchup” folders were put in the desks of students who needed help keeping papers organized. Going forward on Fridays, these folders will be sent home. Please return the red folders along with the daily green folders in the blue crate on Mondays.
Class Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 22nd
Spelling word lists are attached. Please take time to review these words with your child. We will have a class spelling bee on March 22nd, I encourage all of the students to participate. There will be 2 Kindergarten Spelling Bee representatives for the finals on April 5th, All School Spelling Bee. There will be great prizes for the winners!
2nd Trimester awards on March 24th
I will send emails to all of our citizenship awardees this week. Please note that to receive a Citizenship award, a student needs to earn 0’s (Outstanding = 92-100%) on both work habits and behavior grade. Students’ daily behavior, participation, attendance, tests, ST MATH goal and work habits are IMPORTANT factors to receiving an award.
Lenten Project- due on March 29th
During the season of LENT Almsgiving reminds us of Jesus’s call to serve and connects us in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in need. Mrs. Garcia’s 5th grade class has partnered with PAULEY’s PROJECT to “improve the lives of those who find themselves homeless” through street outreach.
Thank you to the two families who have already sent in toothpaste and toothbrushes. Hopefully, we can reach our goal.
