Dear First Grade Families,
I hope you all are well! We had a WONDERFUL first day back! It is a pleasure having your children in my class! I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them. The students participated in our first day activities, we practiced our classroom routines and procedures, classroom rules, we read one of my favorite books, First Day Jitters, and we even drank special, “jitter juice,” (Hawaiian punch, lemonade, green food coloring, a scoop of sherbet, and sprinkles) each to help take away some of those first day of school jitters! I know we are going to have a great year!
Again parents, please read my emails carefully to avoid questions that are clearly stated in all my reminders.
Correct daily school supplies
We have checked each of the student’s daily school supplies. Some first graders have the wrong or missing notebooks and wrong supply box. We have sent home some materials, please check your child’s backpack. I will email each family what material is missing or needs to be replaced.
Please know that our First Graders are still learning how to write properly and neatly, it is important that we have the correct notebooks for them.
All students must have 2 Primary Composition notebook K-2 (WIDE RULED) and 1 Primary Journal notebook K-2 (PRIMARY RULED- with space to draw) Please see the samples in our supply list. Kindly also make sure to label each of the notebook and write their name on it.

All supply box must be the same size. Clear with no designs.
A lot of students also have incomplete supplies, missing, crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint, blue binder, whiteboard and emergency bags
Once again, please check our supply list for the correct daily supplies. Hopefully by Friday, all students have their complete and correct supplies.
Pick up and drop off
Only Kinder and 1st grade parents CAN park in the small lot and use the crosswalks to walk to the classrooms and drop off their children. You may NOT park in the carline and pick up your child. Parking in the carline to pick up your child, will affect the 2-8 grade pick up and it will cause traffic as well. You may also use the front gate in 163rd.
Please parents avoid lingering or congregating along the breezeway or in front of our K-2 classrooms in the morning or during dismissal. It is difficult to manage students when its crowded.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. E-mail is the best way to get in touch with me. I feel so blessed to be your child’s teacher this year! God Bless!
Warmly,
Ms. Martinez
