Dear First Grade Families,
I hope everyone to have a blessed weekend with your family. Here is all the information that you and your child will need for the week, 8/21-8/25. Please make sure to read all important information to avoid questions that are clearly stated on all emails/ reminders. I would greatly appreciate it!
Classroom Donations
I wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude for all your generous donations to our classroom. Your support means the world to me and will make a significant impact on our learning environment. With your contribution, I am able to enhance our educational experience and create a more enriching space for all students. Thank you for your kindness!
Lunch bags
I kindly request your cooperation in labeling your child’s lunch bags and water bottles.
Labeling these items ensures that they are easily identifiable and can be returned to their rightful owners in case they are misplaced or mixed up. This simple step will help us maintain a smooth and organized lunchtime experience for all students.
Please use a permanent marker or labels that adhere securely to the items. Include your child’s full name and class to prevent any confusion.
Schedule
Starting this week, we will have our full-day schedule 7:50 AM -3:00 PM. Please see the attachment below for our first-grade block schedule.
Homework folder
Every day, students will be bringing home their blue homework folder. I have some important documents that parents must read, sign and return by this week.
All students are expected to return their blue homework folder to school every day. A bin will be placed outside the 1st grade classroom every morning for these folders. It should be placed in number order. This should be done as soon as they hang up their backpacks.
Please help me encourage our first graders to be independent, they should be able to hang their own back packs & put the homework folders in the bin by themselves. This will be part of our first grade morning routine.
Homework
I will start assigning homework this week! Every Monday, your child will have a homework list in their blue homework folder. This must be signed and returned every day. Your child’s homework this week will only include a math review packet. You may use the homework list to keep track of your child’s daily assignments. I recommend following the daily schedule provided on the homework weekly list that help the students manage their activities better.
Important Documents
This week, I will send out important documents in your child’s homework folder (1st grade syllabus, CPLA form, Code of Christian Conduct, etc.). Please take time to read and sign these documents. Kindly return these documents by the end of the week. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Temporary roster
Please always double check our roster posted outside our classroom when you drop off your child in the morning. Our first-grade class is still growing and we haven’t finalized our roster. Their class number will still change. I will let everyone know once it is finalized.
WHAT TO BRING TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY
- Blue homework folder
- Snack and lunch
- Water bottle
Lunch
Starting This week, Alvarado Catering will begin serving hot lunch. Cost per lunch per day is $7.00. You are encouraged to pay for your child’s lunch through Zelle OR Check made out to Alvarado Catering. *Same Day Purchases are available via ZELLE 323-477-9562, Check, or Cash. No IOU’s will be issued for lunches.
If you choose to bring “home lunch”, that is also an option. Menus were sent home via email from the office.
Packed Snack and Lunch
I kindly request your assistance in ensuring that your child can easily distinguish between their snack and lunch items.
To avoid any confusion during meal times, please consider labeling the packed food clearly as either “Snack” or “Lunch.” Or just letting your child know which food to eat for snack or lunch. This small effort will greatly help our students and staff in maintaining an organized and smooth snack and lunch routines.
Uniform, hair, nails
Starting this week, students must wear their complete school uniforms. Please check the school handbook for details on uniform, hair, socks, shoes, jackets and accessories.
Every Wednesdays, our firsties must wear their complete PE uniform. Please check the handbook for details about the uniform and correct tennis shoes.
Every Fridays, all students must wear their complete formal mass uniform, once again, please check our handbook for more details.
Counseling
If you are interested kindly sign the CPLA form that I will send out tomorrow. Kindly sign the form, put it in your child’s homework folder and turn it in by the end of the week.
Pick up and drop off.
All K-1 students must be dropped off and picked up in front of our classroom. You cannot park by the 163rd red pedestrian lane. We prioritize the safety of each student and family of our community.
Only Kinder and 1st-grade parents CAN park in the small lot and use the crosswalks to walk to the classrooms and drop off their children. You may not park in the carline and pick up your child. Parking in the carline to pick up your child, will affect the 2-8 grade pick-up and cause traffic. You may also use the front gate on 163rd.
Please parents avoid lingering or congregating along the breezeway or in front of our K-2 classrooms in the morning or during dismissal. It is difficult to manage students when it is crowded.
Emergency Bags
We will still have some students needing emergency bags. Please make sure to drop it off by Monday, 8/21
Missing/ wrong supplies
I sent emails to all students that have missing/wrong supplies yesterday I wish to have all of their school supplies ready by Monday. Let me know if you need assistance with any school supplies.
Mass
First Grade class will not be attending our school mass till September 15. We will continue to practice our mass procedures and etiquette for the following weeks. I encourage students to wear their complete FORMAL MASS UNIFORM every Friday.
Book fees
If you haven’t paid your child’s book fees through facts or at the office, your child will not get their books. We will start using some of our books this week.
Daycare
Daycare is from 3:15pm-6pm ONLY. Please let the office know ahead of time if you are signing up for daycare. Kindly make sure to pack extra snack for your child.
