Dear Kindergarten Families,
Thank you for an amazing first week of school. It has been such a joy getting to know our Kinder friends. Today, we read All Are Welcome to celebrate how we are all so special and different. “We’re part of a community, our strength is our diversity, a shelter from adversity, All are welcome here.”
We talked about St. Anthony’s Tribes Agreements, practiced routines and are working on getting scissors certified. Please practice using scissors with your student and remind them, “chicken wing down.”
Here is all the information that you and your child will need for this week, 8/21-8/25. Please make sure to read all important information to avoid questions that are clearly stated on all emails/ reminders. I would greatly appreciate it!
New Pick-up Procedures for 8/21 – 8/25 ONLY
As a reminder, Kindergarten dismissal is at 12 noon through August 25th. Since grades 1-8 are in school until 3:00 pm and lunch is at noon, we will not be opening the main 163rd gate, and instead ask all Kindergarten families to park in the school parking lot accessible on Berendo Avenue and walk to the kindergarten classroom for pick-up. A St. Anthony staff member will let parents in through the pedestrian gate. If you are parking on 163rd Street, please be sure to read the street sweeping signs.
Please be sure you are using the crosswalks and following all safety directions. Only authorized adults may take your child. Please let me know if you need to add anyone to the form.
Snack/lunch bags
I kindly request your cooperation in labeling your child’s snack/lunch bags and water bottles.
Labeling these items ensures that they are easily identifiable and can be returned to their rightful owners in case they are misplaced or mixed up. This simple step will help us maintain a smooth and organized lunchtime experience for all students.
Please use a permanent marker or labels that adhere securely to the items. Include your child’s full name and class to prevent any confusion.
Please practice with your child opening snack packaging. Students should be able to open containers independently. Due to the number of students and limited time, we are not able to heat food up. As always, healthy snacks (e.g. fruit, pretzels, granola bars, yogurt, etc.) are preferred.
Homework folder
Every day, students will be bringing home their green homework folder. I have some important documents that parents must read, sign and return by this week.
All students are expected to return their green homework folder to school every day. A bin will be placed outside the Kindergarten classroom every morning for these folders. It should be placed in number order. This should be done as soon as they hang up their backpacks.
Please help me encourage our Kindergarteners to be independent, they should be able to hang their own back packs & put the homework folders in the bin by themselves. This will be part of our morning routine.
Temporary roster
Please always double check our roster posted outside our classroom when you drop off your child in the morning. Our Kindergarten class is still growing and we haven’t finalized our roster. Their class number will still change. I will let everyone know once it is finalized.
WHAT TO BRING TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY
- Green homework folder to be placed daily in the blue crate
- Snack
- Water bottle
Uniform, hair, nails
Starting this week, students must wear their complete school uniforms. Please check the school handbook for details on uniform, hair, socks, shoes, jackets and accessories.
Counseling
If you are interested, kindly sign the CPLA form that I will send out tomorrow. Kindly sign the form, put it in your child’s homework folder and turn it in by the end of the week.
Daycare
Daycare is from 12:15 pm-6:00 pm ONLY. Please let the office know ahead of time if you are signing up for daycare. Kindly make sure to pack extra snack for your child.
