Hi Kindergarten Families,
It was so wonderful seeing you all at Back to School Night last week, and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 3 days, at our Kindergarten Family Social this Friday at 4:30pm on the brown benches! Thank you to our All-Star Room Parent Team for taking care of all the planning. You can find more information and sign-ups for Friday on the Kindergarten Band app.
In anticipation of our gathering, we have been working on learning our Playground Rules for safety, and reinforcing our Tribes Community Agreements (an intentional way of learning and being together that promotes community and inclusion) Here are our agreements, which are on our website. I encourage you to post them up and discuss them at home with your child, as we remind them of these daily:

- Attentive Listening
- Mutual Respect
- Personal Best
- Appreciations/No Put Downs
- Right to Pass/Right to Participate
- and especially in Kindergarten, Safety First
Please review the following by clicking here, Behavioral Expectations, in our Parent/Student Handbook and by clicking here, Behavior Code, regarding choices and consequences.
I appreciate your continued partnership in gently reminding your child of what has been shared each Wednesday at our morning assembly by Mrs. Grey, our principal, namely HFO:
- Hands
- Feet
- Objects
to ourselves at all times, as we remember our personal space so we can create a fun and safe learning environment. Mrs. Grey teaches the importance of students staying in their bubble, (in their personal space.) You can use that same language at home. We have even been practicing “air hugs” and “air high fives” at school to talk about appropriate boundaries with one another. This is also part of our responsibility as adults trained in Virtus to “Safeguard the Children.”
Mosquitos
The school is aware of students being bitten by mosquitoes and are working on a safe solution. Some home remedies include rubbing a bit of tea tree oil or lavender on any bug bites or using these essential oils in a diffuser to keep bugs away.
I will also have the Parent-Teacher conference sign up sheets available this Friday if you haven’t signed up yet.
I hope to see everyone and their families on Friday! Get ready to have fun, meet Kinder families, and ask any questions you may have. Looking forward to our fellowship together.
Blessings,
Mrs. McCabe
