Dear Kindergarten Families,
I hope everyone is well and enjoying a joyous and relaxing Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
As I reflect on the wonderful Friendsgiving celebration we shared in our Kindergarten class, my immense gratitude needs to be expressed, even if belatedly. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for contributing to the warmth, joy and generosity of our Friendsgiving celebration. Our Kindergarten family was beaming with happiness, and it was heartening to see them enjoy the festivities surrounded by such a supportive and caring community. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and the positive impact of your involvement will undoubtedly leave lasting memories for our little ones.
Thank you for making our Kindergarten community so vibrant and close-knit.
Please be sure to check the Kindergarten Band to sign-up for Kindergarten’s Bake Sale after Family Mass (12/3), Las Posadas/Christmas Celebration (12/7), and our snack fundraiser (12/8). Thank you Room Parent team!
2023 Adopt a Family School Drive- Deadline Nov 30th, Thursday
As we prepare for the Christmas Season, we will be partnering with Cathedral of Angels Adopt-A-Family program. We are excited to have your support in helping to bring the magic of Christmas families in the downtown Los Angeles area.
If you have time, please watch the 5-minute Adopt-a-Family video that summarizes this program.
For the Food Drive portion of the program, Kindergarten is assigned:
- Paper towels
- Toilet paper
The above donations will be collected beginning Mon., Nov. 27th through Thurs., Nov. 30th. A drop off box will be placed outside our classroom for any donations.
For the Gift Buying portion, our school will be adopting a special family- The Iglesias Family. We want to give them a memorable Christmas. This will require some sacrifice, but we will do it for Jesus. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of these least of mine, you did it for me.”
The Iglesias Family was referred to Adopt-A-Family by Homeboy Industries. The father says, “Sometimes we are facing hard times when I can’t keep up with the rent and I have to do things so I can come up with the rent, sometimes I feel like just giving up on myself but then I look at my kids they are the reason why I haven’t given up. I got custody of my nephew; both of his parents are in jail. He’s always asking when they are coming home. The hardest days are the holidays for him because he wishes his parents were
around to show him how to be a man.” If each person in each grade purchases just one item for the family, they will have a magical
Christmas! Family Number: HB-246
Please follow the Instructions for Purchasing Gifts. All gifts should be new, wrapped, and tagged.
Kindergarten is assigned two year old, Lexi. Please click here, Iglesias family link to sign up. The Gift Buying deadline is December 8th. Drop off box will be available outside the classroom.
Thank you for your generosity in helping families less fortunate have a bountiful Christmas season!
2nd Trimester Expectations
This week is the start of our 2nd trimester. Kindergarten did an AWESOME job and I’m very proud of them! This is an exciting time, but it is also a time when our expectations grow to further our preparations for the next grade level. Here are some of the expectations that I am looking out for:
- All Kindergarteners should know how to write their FIRST NAME, using an uppercase/capital letter to start followed by lower case letters.
- First name and number on ALL assignments (part of work habits grade).
- An uppercase/capital letter at the beginning of EVERY sentence, correct spacing between words and use of a punctuation mark.
- Kindergarteners should know the phonetic sound of ALL the letters.
- All Kindergarteners should know some of our prayers, Sign of the Cross, Guardian Angel, Hail Mary and prayer before meals.
- All Kindergarteners should follow all classroom rules, bathroom rules and school-wide Tribes agreements without being reminded inside and outside the classroom. This includes keeping Hands, Feet and Objects (HFO) to ourselves respecting everyone’s personal space.
- All Kindergarteners should be able to navigate through Seesaw and ST Math apps. submit their own work on Seesaw.
- All Kindergarteners should turn-in their green homework folders every day in order to help them be more responsible.
The Kindergarteners are doing a great job with this so far, and I want them to continue to work on being more responsible each and every day!
I am encouraging all students to meet these expectations every day, and it would be helpful if you could also encourage your child to work with these expectations at home too!
Uniform
As we enter the cold, rainy season, I want to remind all families that our uniform policy will be enforced and remain in effect. However, there may be exceptions to the rules when the days are extremely cold and rainy. On those days, administration may allow raincoats and rainboots, and “extra” attire over or under the school uniforms to ensure our students stay warm and safe. We encourage those items to be in the school uniform color scheme, so it doesn’t look like students are in free dress. When in doubt, please email Mrs. Grey directly to clarify what uniforms are acceptable.
Jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, scarves, hats, and gloves
Students may wear the following:
- Navy jacket or windbreaker with school logo from Vicki Marsha Uniform Co. (see uniform list above)
- Navy blue sweatshirt with school logo from Vicki Marsha Uniform Co.
- Navy blue school sweatshirt with SAP logo
- FAST grey sweatshirt (Student Learning Expectations: sweatshirt was a limited edition from VMU)
- The St Anthony Trojans Navy Blue Sweatshirt is for current athletes only (for sports teams to use on designated days)
- Current Student Government sweatshirts, if there is one for the current year
- Students who do not have official school jackets MUST either purchase official jackets or wear plain navy-blue jackets/windbreakers. It must match the uniform, or students may be sent to the office until parents bring their proper attire—no jackets with designs.Students may wear heavier jackets on winter days, but the color must match the uniform. If a uniform is in question, parents will be notified immediately.
- No prints. Logos, sequins/glitter on attire. Hair accessories from Vicki Marsha must match school colors- Black, White, Navy, or Gray. No hats or gloves are allowed unless approved by the administration for inclement weather.
We want to ensure that students follow the uniform policy, as stated in our handbook. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and compliance with all school rules and the dress code.
