Dear Kindergarten Families,
I hope this email finds you and your families well as we embark on the joyful season of Advent. It was so nice to see so many of you at church today during this special time of the year, filled with anticipation, reflection, and the spirit of togetherness. Thank you to our Room Parents for organizing our families for the mandatory Bake Sale!
In addition to preparing for the upcoming Christmas program, our Kindergarten elves have been busy crafting for our only fundraiser, the handmade ornament and snack sale sale.
Monthly Packet
In lieu of a December homework packet, I will be sending the Catholic Handwriting Book home on Friday. The completed book is due on January 8, 2024 and will be a part of each student’s Work Habits and Handwriting grades.
Las Posadas and Christmas Party, 12/7
As a tradition, Kindergarten will be celebrating Las Posadas with our 4th graders. Kindergarteners are asked to dress as villagers from Mexico processing to the manger or barn animals.
We will end our procession in the School Hall followed by our Christmas Party. Students may change into pajamas or wear pajamas under their Las Posadas costumes.
Please check the Kindergarten BAND for more information on our Christmas celebration.
Kindergarten Fundraiser, Handmade Ornament and Snack Sale, 12/8
Each student has crafted one-of-a-kind ornaments. Each ornament is $5 each or you can purchase all six of your child’s ornaments for $20. Parents can prepay by sending in ornament money to school in a sealed and labeled envelope starting Wednesday morning via the front pocket of the green folder. Kindergarten parents have the first opportunity to purchase their child’s ornaments.
All proceeds will benefit our class. We will use the funds for our two upcoming field trips and year end picnic.
Please check BAND to get involved in our Kindergarten after school snack sale on Friday, 12/8.
2023 Adopt a Family School Drive – Iglesias Family, due 12/8
As we prepare for the Christmas Season, we will be partnering with Cathedral of Angels Adopt-A-Family program. We are excited to have your support in helping to bring the magic of Christmas families in the downtown Los Angeles area. Thank you to the many families who donated toilet paper and paper towels this past week which have already been delivered to many families in need.
If you have time, please watch the 5-minute Adopt-a-Family video that summarizes this program.
Our school adopted – The Iglesias Family. We want to give them a memorable Christmas. This will require some sacrifice, but we will do it for Jesus. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of these least of mine, you did it for me.”
The Iglesias Family was referred to Adopt-A-Family by Homeboy Industries. The father says, “Sometimes we are facing hard times when I can’t keep up with the rent and I have to do things so I can come up with the rent, sometimes I feel like just giving up on myself but then I look at my kids they are the reason why I haven’t given up. I got custody of my nephew; both of his parents are in jail. He’s always asking when they are coming home. The hardest days are the holidays for him because he wishes his parents were
around to show him how to be a man.” If each person in each grade purchases just one item for the family, they will have a magical
Christmas! Family Number: HB-246
Please follow the Instructions for Purchasing Gifts. All gifts should be new, wrapped, and tagged.
**Kindergarten is assigned to two year old, Lexi. Please click here, Iglesias family link to sign up. There are still clothing items available to purchase on Lexi’s wish list. The Gift Buying deadline is December 8th. Drop off box will be available outside the classroom.
Thank you for your generosity in helping the Iglesias family have a bountiful Christmas season!
Tardy
Please see our SCHOOL policy regarding tardies. This is a school-wide policy.
A student is considered TARDY if he/she is not in line at morning assembly when the school bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Teachers will record daily attendance before morning prayer. Students must check in with the office and get a tardy slip if they arrive after morning assembly or when attendance has been taken in classes on Mass days. Tardiness is recorded daily by teachers at 7:50 am and then recorded on Gradelink on a student’s official attendance register, which is a legal document.
Teachers will record attendance by 8:30am daily. If tardies are excessive, it could lead to a registration hold in February, since it affects a child’s learning and teaching. Excessive tardies can affect a child’s Work Habits Grade, and will also affect the ability to earn the Citizenship Award at the trimester Awards Ceremonies.
A family will be notified for excessive tardies, as it could affect their good standing at the school. Excessive tardies is a poor work habit and will be reflected in the Work Habits grade on the report card, which affects earning the Citizenship Award. Families should also be aware of the Truancy policy when it comes to tardies, early pick ups and unexcused absences. Teachers can let families know their rubric or grade level policy on how many unexcused tardies or absences will result in a lower grade in Work Habits and disqualify a child from receiving the Citizenship award.
***Regarding after school dismissal, the children have a 15 minute (3:00-3:15 pm) grace period from their allotted pick-up time before being sent to Daycare and being charged $20 a day per child.
Uniform
As we enter the cold, rainy season, I want to remind all families that our uniform policy will be enforced and remain in effect. However, there may be exceptions to the rules when the days are extremely cold and rainy. On those days, the administration may allow raincoats and rainboots, and “extra” attire over or under the school uniforms to ensure our students stay warm and safe. We encourage those items to be in the school uniform color scheme, so it doesn’t look like students are in free dress. When in doubt, please email Mrs. Grey directly to clarify what uniforms are acceptable.
Jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, scarves, hats, and gloves
Students may wear the following:
- Navy jacket or windbreaker with school logo from Vicki Marsha Uniform Co. (see uniform list above)
- Navy blue sweatshirt with school logo from Vicki Marsha Uniform Co.
- Navy blue school sweatshirt with SAP logo

- The St Anthony Trojans Navy Blue Sweatshirt is for current athletes only (for sports teams to use on designated days)

- Students who do not have official school jackets MUST either purchase official jackets or wear plain navy-blue jackets/windbreakers. It must match the uniform, or students may be sent to the office until parents bring their proper attire—no jackets with designs.Students may wear heavier jackets on winter days, but the color must match the uniform. If a uniform is in question, parents will be notified immediately.
- No prints. Logos, sequins/glitter on attire. Hair accessories from Vicki Marsha must match school colors- Black, White, Navy, or Gray. No hats or gloves are allowed unless approved by the administration for inclement weather.
