Hello Families!
Christmas is upon us! It is wonderful to see the kids so full of Christmas cheer! We have been making nativity ornaments, singing Christmas songs, and celebrating the holiday cheer. It makes me so joyous that the kids are loving reading Christmas in Camelot.
This upcoming week we have our Christmas party on Thursday! Kids will be invited to wear their pajamas to school and watching Polar Express. Please let me know if you do not feel comfortable having your child watch this movie. Our wonderful room parents will be arranging for food for the kids, so please send $10.
The children begged to have a secret Santa this year. We drew names on Friday, If your child was absent, I will give them their names Monday. Thursday we will do our gift exchange. Please have your child create a handmade ornament and bring a gift of $15.
There was an incident a week ago with kids in the class playing “Charlie Charlie” I stopped them and explained that it may seem innocent, but we do not do things that do not worship God and are inappropriate for the classroom. Please remind your children that game and games like that are not conducive for our learning environment.
Another thing that we encountered in the classroom/at break is boys making finger guns at each other. The first time I saw this I immediately gave the students responsible a clip down. In the future, as we have had a classroom discussion about being appropriate and non-violent, if this behavior happens again, there will be conduct slips. We want to make sure that everyone feels safe and we are not taking serious matters lightly. If your boys are playing videogames, please make sure they do not involve guns or violence as it will normalize violent behaviors.
Our school mass day id on Thursday as we celebrate La Virgen de Guadelupe. Please have your student wear their formal mass uniform on Tuesday. Noon dismissal on Friday to begin the holiday.
