Dear SAP School Families,
We continue to test for incoming Kindergarten students from across the street. If you have a child in the preschool’s Yellow or Orange class at St. Anthony’s Day Nursery, or a rising Kindergartner at another school, please be sure to turn in your application for the Early Bird Kinder registration ASAP. We will continue to test applicants through February 2024, before we open spots up to the public on March 1. First come first serve, and we will cap the enrollment at 35 for next year. Don’t delay!
Please continue to keep Mr. and Mrs. Reyes in your prayers, as they are getting ready to welcome their first child into the world very soon. Their baby’s due date is February 1, but Baby Reyes can come at any time. Mr. Reyes is also on a WASC Visiting Committee for another school so he may be off campus sporadically. Interviews also begin for new principals at other schools soon, so if Mr. Reyes gets placed as a principal at another school, he will begin to be on campus 1-3 days a week. We wish him all the best during his interviews and pray for his placement for next year.
Musical auditions begin this week and we are excited to bring back Beauty and the Beast, Jr.! Mrs. Garcia will be leading our Theater group again this year. We look forward to many exciting activities in the coming months. Thank you for all your support!
Keep in mind that our parish will be fixing the uneven pavement near the church, which is a safety hazard, from 1/29-2/1. The school had requested that the pavement be fixed over the Christmas break, but the company was not available. Know that we will do our best to ensure everyone’s safety, but we will need your cooperation during carline dropoff and pickup in the main parking lot next week during Catholic Schools’ Week. Do let everyone in your family know about these changes to the carline, so they are all aware of any changes.
This Sunday, January 28 is our Annual Open House from 12-2pm, after our 11am All School Family Mass (students can earn free dress passes from their teachers if they come in Full Mass Uniform that day and check in with their teacher).
Open House kicks off National Catholic Schools’ Week from 1/28-2/3. We are excited to appreciate all the stakeholders in our community daily, and to have Friday 2/2, designated as Special Persons’ Day. Many may want to invite their grandparents to join their children at the school at our 10am Mass and lunch afterwards on 2/2 (either on or off campus). There will be NO LUNCH sold on campus, so please bring our own lunches if you plan to eat on campus. That day is NOON dismissal. All students must be supervised at all times. Adults attending will sign out children from school at the child’s classroom before Mass at 9:45am, and are responsible for the children after they are signed out, even if they stay on campus. Please let your child’s teacher know ahead of time, which adult 18 or over will be accompanying your child to Mass and lunch. 2/2 is a 12 noon dismissal with daycare till 6pm.
Many Blessings,
Angela Grey, Principal
Gabriel Reyes, Co-Principal

IMPORTANT EARLY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION!
If you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten next year and is NOT at St. Anthony’s Day Nursery – please contact me right away to let me know so I can include him/her on the early registration list. If your child is already at the Nursery School, you have already received info and should have turned in all applications. First come first serve. The Kinder Round Up was on 1/13/24. Open enrollment to the public starts 3/1/24.
INTERIOR MAINTENANCE PLC and SERVICE HOUR BUYOUT
Please sign up for the Interior Maintenance PLC for service hours that can be earned on certain Saturdays from 12:30-3:30 p.m. You can also donate Scrip at the front office for school expenses. You may buy out your service hours for $15/hour for Scrip, such as Home Depot, Office Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Starbucks. Next year, the price goes up to $17/hr to keep up with inflation and CA’s minimum wage.
MONTHLY EMERGENCY DRILLS
We recently had an emergency school safety drill; an intruder alert/lockdown drill. Our school has at least one safety drill per month. Please discuss procedures and your family’s plan with your children in the event of a fire, lockdown/intruder alert, or earthquake when they are at home.
VOLUNTEERS
All visitors on campus must check in and out of the office at all times and wear a VISITOR badge. All Volunteers must be Fingerprinted through the ADLA, cleared, and have a current Virtus Training Certificate. AM and PM carline and lunch yard duty volunteers (from 12-1 daily) are needed. Please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org if you are interested. For safety reasons, please call before you come to the office and buzz yourself in. Do not prop the door open for anyone, especially strangers. All parents are welcome to join the SAFETY PLC to increase security on our campus.
EARN ONE SERVICE HOUR FROM HOME!
Parents who review our school online on Yelp, Google, AND greatschools.org will earn up to one service hour after you send me your screenshots of all 3 sites as proof: to agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
