Dear First Grade Families,
I hope this email finds you well. Last week was filled with excitement and exploration as our class had a blast at Pretend City! We witnessed our students immerse themselves in imaginative play and learning experiences. It was truly a joy to see them engage and grow.
I would like to give a special shoutout to all our amazing parent volunteers & donors! Thank you so much!
I am thrilled to be back in action this week, ready to embark on new adventures in learning!
Below are some updates regarding our class for this week, 4/22-4/26. Kindly read all the information below to avoid questions that are clearly stated on this email.
3rd Trimester Expectations
We are down to our last trimester! Here are some of the expectations that I am looking out for:
- All first graders should know how to write their FULL NAME.
- The date on ALL assignments (written as April 22, 2024 OR 4/22/24)
- An uppercase/capital letter at the beginning of EVERY sentence.
- Correct punctuations or end mark (period, exclamation point, or question mark) at the end of EVERY sentence.
- All first graders must know how to tie their shoelaces.
- All first graders must be able to read Fry’s 1st & 2nd words without verbal prompts. (Sight words)
- All first graders must be able to write neatly and form letters and numbers correctly.
- All first graders should read for AT LEAST 20-30 minutes every day at home. (Homework included; NOTE: This means that if the students read one book and it only takes them 10 minutes, they should read another book to complete their 20 minutes of reading as a practice!) Students may use Raz-kids / Epic or any book for practice.
- All first graders must know all their prayers, Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be, Prayer before Meal and Guardian Angel Prayer.
- All first graders must follow classroom rules & school Tribes agreements without being reminded.
- All first graders must be able to submit their own work on Seesaw.
- All first graders must be able to independently do their homework on Seesaw, and Raz-kids.
- All students should turn in their own homework folders every morning independently.
Progress reports
On Tuesday, April 23rd, I will be sending your child’s progress reports. I will be sending 2 copies, one copy must be signed & returned the next day and another copy for you to keep.
With that being said, any missing/incomplete homework will reflect on your child’s grades. Please check Gradelink if your child is missing any homework and reach out to me directly if you have any concerns or questions. Please keep in mind that the progress report is just a snapshot of where your child is at right now. Final Grades will be given at the end of the 3rd trimester.
Mass with Mother Figures
On Friday, April 26, we will have “Mass with Mother Figures”, as an early Mothers’ Day Celebration. Mothers, grandmas, and aunties or other adult mother figures may come to Mass for a special blessing. Mother figures may sit next to their child behind our class.
Please note that Mother Figures are asked to attend Mass that day, but there will be no donuts or muffins after Mass. After mass, classes will resume.
STAR Testing Window 3
Next week, Monday, 4/29 or Tuesday, 4/30, our first grade will be taking their 3rd and final STAR test. This test will measure their knowledge from the 1st-3rd trimester. Please make sure that your child had enough sleep and healthy breakfast before coming to school. Students will be using our school iPad to do the test. It is recommended for students to wear headphones to avoid distraction. If your child has headphones that is compatible to an iPad, please make sure to bring it to school.
Homework & Test:
Please refer to the homework list in your child’s homework folder.
