This week will kick off the new 2024-2025 school year at SAP. I have had the pleasure of speaking with several of you about your child to understand better how I can support them academically and spiritually in the classroom. Here’s information for the days ahead:
Monday: The school office will be closed due to a staff retreat. The office and staff will resume their presence on campus on Tuesday.
Tuesday – Thursday: Phone calls home continue. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments before I contact you.
Friday: Students and their families are encouraged to stop by from 12 pm to 4 pm to meet me and drop off their school supplies. The junior high student government will participate in an all-day retreat with Ms. Garcia. Contact Ms. Garcia if you have any questions regarding the retreat.
Positive Phone Calls
The purpose of this exercise is to better understand who your child is inside and outside of school and to share any helpful information that the teacher needs to know, such as health concerns, medications, academic goals or concerns, extracurricular activities, or questions you may have about the year.
If I do not hear from you by Tuesday, I will contact you via email and sign up genius to schedule a convenient time for the call.
Meet and Greet/Supply Drop Off
Students are welcome to attend the teacher meet and greet. Please remember to bring a handwritten note of encouragement you have for your child in a sealed envelope or a photo/item marking a significant achievement or memory your child has.
Also, as a courtesy for other students and families, meet and greet is not an appropriate time to hold parent-teacher conferences. For the sake of the privacy and confidentiality of students, if you would like to schedule an appointment for a formal meeting, feel free to contact me. Scheduling can be arranged for the second week of school.
Students can keep personal supplies in their backpacks until the first day of school. Supply drop-off is essential for organizing homeroom community supplies in the classroom.
Time: 12 pm – 4 pm
Where: Room 11, Grade 6, second floor.
First Week of School
The first day of school is Tuesday, August 20th. Students will be marked tardy after 7:50 am.
I ask students to bring their notebooks, writing utensils, scissors, and glue sticks weekly.
Students must have a designated notebook (college-ruled, spiral-bound, or composition notebook) for Language, Literature, and Social Studies.
Students must submit their summer packet work on the first day of school. During the first week of school, students will need their summer reading assignments and reading books to discuss the content.
A syllabus from all junior high teachers will be passed out and thoroughly explained in class the first few days. Students must bring the syllabi home to read with their parents/guardians and sign the acknowledgment form. All students will receive a grade for submitting the acknowledgment form of the syllabus. Please submit on time to avoid zero (no credit) until received.
All week, students will be released at noon every day.
Office Hours
My office hours will begin the second week of school. Mondays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm (tests only: make up for absent students) and Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm will be for homework extra help.
God Bless,
Ms. Hernandez
