Dear 3rd Grade Parents,
It was wonderful to welcome your children back to school today! I was thrilled to see how much they’ve grown and matured since I last had them in 1st grade. We had an amazing first day together, full of engaging activities and lots of fun.
We started the day with a “Summer Headlines” activity, where the students wrote about their exciting experiences over the summer. It was great to hear about their adventures! We also reviewed our 3rd-grade expectations and set personal goals for the year. Many of the students are excited to dive into learning multiplication, division, fractions, and cursive writing.
In addition, we revisited our TRIBES agreement. The students worked collaboratively in groups to explore what each TRIBE agreement looks like, sounds like, and feels like in our classroom. Although we didn’t have enough time to finish all our planned activities, we made the most of our day. We also had some fun brain breaks, including “Four Corners” and “Snowball”—feel free to ask your child how those activities went!

Favorite Athlete Project – due on 8/26/24
Today, I sent out the template for our first project, which is due on Monday, August 26th. With your help, students will:
- Research their favorite athlete or Olympian
- Draw or glue a picture on the template
- Complete the information sheet
- Color/ decorate their banner.
- Cut out the banner.
Email Communication
As some of you may know, I don’t have an aide in 3rd grade like I did in 1st grade. This means that during the school day, I may not be able to check emails until the end of the day or even until I get home. If you need to contact me, please try to email me the day before or copy the school office so they can inform me during the day.
Carline Procedures
Just a reminder that grades 2-5 use the carline for both drop-off and pick-up. If you have multiple children, the oldest will go to the youngest’s classroom. But if you have children in kindergarten or 1st grade, you will need to pick all of them up from the youngest child’s classroom. If you’re not using the carline for pick-up, please let me know before taking your child so I can keep track of everyone.
Homework Folder
All the forms that need to be signed by parents are in your child’s homework folder. If they return them by Friday, they’ll earn a free dress pass.
Planner
Your child also brought home their planner today. Please check today’s date to see their “homework” for the day/week, which includes parent forms and their project. I would appreciate if you could sign your initial so I know that you’ve checked your child’s planner.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year with your children!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Do
