Dear First Grade Families,
It was an amazing first two days of school! It was a great pleasure getting to meet you and your children. I would just like to share a few reminders and updates for the week. Please read the following information in its entirety.
Morning Drop-off and Pick-up
Drop-off
Please remember that the school bell rings promptly at 7:50am. All students should be in line with the rest of the class by this time. Students not in line by 7:50am will be still be marked tardy on the first week of school. Tardy slips will begin being distributed next week.
Please do not enter through the gate on 161st as it is only to be used as an exit. You may park in the parking lot on Berendo or the small parking lot coned inside the school campus. Parking in front of the preschool is very limited.
Please note your child’s assigned student number on the attachment below! This will be their temporary number and will be solidified by the end of 2nd week of school. In the morning, please have your children hang their backpacks up outside the classroom on their assigned number hook. There will also be numbers labeled outside the classroom on the ground for your children to familiarize how to line up in number order every morning. If the student has arrived earlier than 7:40am, they are to sit on the blue bench until it’s time to line up.
Students will have 2 carts outside of the classroom: one for their lunch bags and one for their water bottles. Please do not have them place their lunch bags on the blue bench in front of the classroom.
Pick-up
Thank you for your patience in waiting for your students to be signed out before leaving. Making a line to wait will be very helpful in ensure all students get signed out and correctly. Please be sure your child leaves with their own backpack, lunch bag, and water bottles. We will begin practicing their homework folder procedures within the next week.
Summer Packets & Supplies
First Grade Summer Packets should have been passed out OR picked up before/during the summer. Please have students bring it back to school by this Friday if not yet turned in! Please keep in mind, there is no stress/pressure to COMPLETE these packets. It was made to help reduce the slope of summer academics. These were simply made to help prepare your child for First Grade! We will be focusing all these skills one day at a time, together! If not completed, please still turn in what your child has done!
Supplies
Thank you for coming to drop off your community supplies throughout the month! For those who are missing items, please ensure that your child brings it with them as soon as possible before the end of the 1st week. For personal items, please refer to the supply list link posted on my teacher blog on the SAP school website. In addition, your child should have their book pocket by the end of the 2nd week as they will be receiving their workbooks within the 2nd week. Please refer to my previous emails for samples of this book pocket. I will send an email or note home with your child within the next couple of weeks if there are any concerns with their supplies.
Snack/Recess
First Grade’s recess time is at 10:00am-10:15am.
Please make sure to pack a healthy, nutritious snack for them everyday! Hot lunch will begin next week.
Next week reminders
Please note that students will have appropriate free dress this whole first week. We will attend our first All School Mass next Friday. Students may still have free dress this Friday, but daily uniforms are always accepted.
We will also be starting music and P.E. class next week. Please be sure that your child is dressed in appropriate P.E. attire on our P.E. day.
Professor Egghead
Professor Egghead will be returning to St. Anthony of Padua for the 2024-2025 school year.
Professor Egghead Science Academy offers your child the coolest science and engineering after school programs
on Wednesdays on our St. Anthony of Padua campus.Girls and Boys in Kindergarten-4th grade are able to register for the 12 week Fall Session. Registration for the Fall session is NOW Open online – ProfessorEgghead.com/Register
Cost for the 12 week session is $264 ONLY $22 per class! Each class needs a minimum of 8 registered students. Please see the blast school email for more information.
PARENT FORMS
All parents should have received a parent form from your oldest or only child. These forms are to be completed and submitted with your child by this Friday along with their student packet. These parent forms were sent home with your oldest or only child. Please ensure these forms have ALL students names along with their student grade and number. (Ex: 1-5) Your student will receive a free dress pass if all forms are completed and submitted by this day. The parent forms and summer packet will be the students’ first grades on Gradelink.
