Chocolate Fundraiser
We are thrilled to announce our Fall Product Chocolate Bars sale will begin on September 4, 2024 (Back to School Night)! All families participating in the 2024- 2025 fundraising campaign will receive four boxes (60 pieces each) of chocolate bars. Product MUST be picked up in the Hall 9/3 – 9/4. After that, we will move the chocolates to the office to be signed out and picked up by Friday, 9/6, or the family will be automatically invoiced. Chocolates cannot be returned once checked out. There are NO RETURNS or REFUNDS for this sale. Families will be billed for products sold or not picked up. Please keep them out of the heat so they are in good condition to sell.
(Please see the flier attachment in this email/blog for more information.)
Carline Procedures
- Please maintain a 5 MPH speed limit. We notice some cars speeding away after picking up their children, which is prohibited.
- All vehicles must exit 161st Street during the carline. If you are parked at the outside gate in Berendo, you will still need to exit 161st Street until after the carline. No cars, bikes, skateboards, scooters, or pedestrians should enter 161st at the carline for safety.
- For students who will be picked up on foot, please DO NOT enter 161st Street during the carline. We understand this is an inconvenience to some, but this is a safety hazard. All pedestrians, please enter through the main gate by the office on 163rd Street or through the Berendo pedestrian gate.
- Please enter through the left side of the vehicle. We understand that car seats or other obstacles in your vehicle may prevent your child from entering on the left side; please roll down your window and let the teacher know so they can escort your child around the other side of the vehicle.
Family Forms
Family form packets have been recorded so that sixth-grade students can receive their free dress pass, but families with younger students in other grades will receive the packet back to include the name(s) of the younger child(ren). I will send another email with specific information to families.
If your child submitted the forms before or by Friday, their names were added to free dress slips, which will be handed out Monday morning. They can redeem the chance to dress out of uniform for free at any point during the school year except for Mass days.
STAR testing
All JH students will be taking tests on September 3rd and 4th. Please schedule doctor’s appointments or other personal commitments around those dates. If your child is absent due to illness on those days, please let us know when they are expected to return so we can ensure they complete their STAR test.
Girls Volleyball
Girls’ Volleyball tryouts for 5th-8th grade starting this week. The tryouts will be held from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on the following dates:
- Tuesday, 8/27
- Thursday, 8/29
- Friday, 8/30
If your daughters want to participate, they should come prepared on 8/27, 8/29, and 8/30 with appropriate volleyball attire, shoes, knee pads, and water. They must attend all three days of tryouts to be eligible for the final cut.
- The tryouts will be for two teams: Varsity A Team: 7th-8th grade
- Junior Varsity B Team: 5th-6th grade
Parents, please note that if your daughter makes the team, maintaining good grades is a requirement for participation. See the handbook for grade requirements. Grade checks will be conducted periodically, especially before games. Additionally, if your child makes the team, there will be a one-time fee for uniforms and referee costs. The fee will be announced after the teams are solidified.
If any parents are interested in assisting Coach Layug and the volleyball team this season, please email me at agrey@stanthonygardena.org.
