Dear 8th Grade Families,
Happy Friday! Last week, summer packets were graded for Religion and Science. If your student did not turn in their packets that means they were marked ‘IC’ or ‘0’ in GradeLink already.
This week, our 8th Graders had their first Religion assessment and in Science they have been working on their satellite. It was nice to see them collaborating and how to perfect their projects! Tuesday is the last day to complete their satellite and they will present their work the following day.

Homework & Missed Work Policy (Religion & Science Syllabus)
Homework is meant to be practicing skills and therefore should be independent. Please note of the policy that pertains to Religion, Science, and Arts:
- On Thursdays, students with missing work will receive an effort slip and he/she must return the signed slip the next day.
- Late homework / work will not be accepted. Any missed or late work will be marked “0”
Make-up Assignments / Tests / Projects
- Students are responsible for completing assignments that are missed when they are absent. Students have the same number of days they were absent to complete make-up assignments. For example, if a child is absent for one day, the make-up assignments are due the day after they return to school. If a student is absent for 3 days, make-up assignments are due on the 3rd day after the day they return.
- If a student missed a test he/she must complete the test on the day of return or the following Tuesday. No other extensions will be given.
- Projects assigned will have a rubric grade that the teacher will follow.
Carline Critical Reminders:
* Please maintain a 5 MPH speed limit. We are noticing some cars speed away after they have picked up their child, and that is not allowed.
* All vehicles must exit 161st Street during carline. If you parked on the outside gate in Berendo, you will still need to exit on 161st Street until after the carline is over. Please, no cars, bikes, skateboards, scooters, or pedestrians should enter 161st at carline for safety.
* For students who will be picked up on foot, please DO NOT enter 161st Street during carline. We understand this is an inconvenience to some, but this is a safety hazard. All pedestrians, please enter through the main gate by the office on 163rd Street or through the Berendo pedestrian gate. Please talk to Mrs. Grey or me if you have any questions or concerns. Due to recent national news reporting accidents during school carlines, we want to take all precautions for preventions of accidents on campus.
* Pedestrians, please only use the 2 yellow painted crosswalks from the parking lot to the school building. We are going to repaint them soon, so that it will be more visible to you.
* Parents, please DO NOT exit the vehicle. Your child will be escorted by your teacher or a parent volunteer.
* Junior High (Grades 6-8) Pickup: Please enter through the LEFT SIDE of the vehicle. We understand that there may be car seats or other obstacles in your vehicle that may prevent them from entering on the left side, please roll down your window and let the teacher know, so that they can escort your child around the other side of the vehicle.
Should you have questions / concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. If there are any changes, I will let you know right away.
Thank you all and God Bless!
Sincerely,
Ms. Garcia
