Dear Kindergarten Families,
These first 2 weeks of Kindergarten were filled with many lessons of school rules, routines, and skills for Kindergarten readiness. I am so thankful for this group of 31 students, they are so well-behaved, kind, and eager to learn! Next week we start our official, full-days at school. Please read through this week’s newsletter to avoid confusion and minimize questions!
Kindergarten Full Days!
Starting Tuesday, September 3 Kindergarten will begin full-days of school! Recess/snack remains at 10:00am, Lunch is at 12:00pm, and dismissal is at 3:00pm except for 1:30pm on Wednesdays.
School lunch is hosted by Alvarado Catering which can be purchased ahead of time through the office! Otherwise, please ensure to pack your child a healthy, nutritious snack and lunch everyday!
PE & Music Start This Week!
Kindergarten has music with Mrs. Garcia on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am! For the first trimester, Mrs. Garcia will be coming into our class to introduce us to musical topics!
P.E for Kindergarten is every Wednesday at 12:45pm (right after lunch). Please ensure that students are wearing their P.E UNIFORMS on Wednesdays and that they have a water bottle! We have water stations around the school whenever they need to be replenished. Early Dismissal is RIGHT after our P.E is concluded!
KINDER STAR TESTING
We will be STAR testing on Monday through Wednesday this week. STAR Testing assess where your child currently is within their grade level skills. This is the first set of STAR testing for the school year, we have 3 tests total! (Beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of the year).
Testing Schedule
- Tuesday (9/3): STAR Early Literacy
- Wednesday (9/3): STAR Early Literacy
- Thursday (9/5): STAR Math
- Friday (9/6): STAR Math
Testing will be conducted in the mornings. Please ensure your child gets enough sleep and has a nutritious breakfast to fuel their minds! Kinder takes their testing in pods, so that I can ensure they have assistance when needed. We hope to finish this week, but will extend is needed!
SEESAW
Seesaw will be used in class for educational technology as well as for some homework assignments. I am aware that Mrs. R (P.E Teacher) has assigned the class their syllabus to turn in and sign through the app! You are not be able to access it right now because you have a “FAMILY ACCOUNT” that allows you to view student’s progress and work only.
Student accounts were created in class today and their QR codes will be inputted into their class AND homework folders for easy access! The class set of iPads were not ready until this week, therefore we learned HOW to use seesaw today before sending them home with a to-do list.
Chocolate Sales begin this week!
Our school chocolate sale begins on 9/3, and we will be passing out chocolate boxes starting Tuesday, 9/3 from 7:30am-6pm, and again on 9/4 from 7:30am-4pm in the Hall near 163rd St. Please stop by to pick up your chocolates this week. After you have sold your first 4 mandatory boxes, any boxes you sell over 4, your child will qualify for a raffle ticket in our two Trojan Drawings! The students are excited to have Trojan Drawings held on 9/12 and 9/26 at 1pm. If you opted out and paid the fee upfront, all you need to do is sell 1 (or more) boxes to qualify for Trojan Drawings, and to allow your child to see the BMX Show. To qualify for Trojan Drawing #1 monies are due by Monday, 9/9.
Back to School Night!
Wednesday, 9/4, is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT at 6:30pm in the Hall for all parents/guardians. CHILDCARE IS NOT AVAILABLE during the meeting, so please plan to keep your children at home, or they must stay with you at all times. Vicki Marsha Uniform will be on campus that night in Rm 5 from 4:30-6pm. We will have two sessions of information in the classrooms to accommodate those with multiple children: 7pm–7:25 pm and 7:30pm-7:55pm.

School Picture Day is on 9/19.

I hope you all have a restful or eventful long-weekend to celebrate Labor Day! See you all on Tuesday, September 3.
