Good Afternoon Families
I hope this email finds you well. I hope this email finds you well. Please all important information for the week of 10/07-10/11 to avoid questions that are clearly stated on all emails.
4th Grade Field Trip
We have been working on finalizing our field trip for October 25th at San Juan Capistrano. Each student has to pay $48 (including the bus and the entrance fee) which will be billed directly from the office. This trip is going to help students understand life in the missions and connect their learning.
Deadlines:
- Saints Report due Oct 11th
- Mission/Tribe/ Sutter Fort projects have been assigned and the report will be due November 4th.
- Nov 4th -1st trimester Mass reflection (5 reflections for the 1st trimester)
P.S: Please note that the Saint’s project has been pushed back because we have been working on writing a paragraph in class. Note that I am taking the time to provide individual feedback after providing a step by step way of writing a paragraph. To help student getting comfortable on their work I did ask them not to work on their paragraph at home. We should be able to wrap it up this week as most of the students made their paragraphs. This is also going to help them as we are starting our informational report and students are expected to research and write (on their own) an informational essay. Please always allow your student even when working at home to work on their own, to edit their work so that they can always learn from their mistakes.
Mass Journal
Students must complete 5 Sunday Mass Reflections (provided in this email) for the first trimester. Mass Reflections will only be counted if you have completed the reflection from a Catholic Mass you have attended. Non-Catholic services and Reconciliation Prayer are not a Mass.
Non-Catholics are still required to complete the Gospel Reflection. They can use the attached website : https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading.
10/7-10/11 NOON DISMISSAL (PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE)
This week will be noon dismissal, daycare is offered from 12-6pm. Last week, I sent reminder cards, please arrive on time. Each family is given 15 mins time slot, if you arrive 10 mins late, you will be rescheduled to the next available schedule. I will be discussing your child’s STAR test results and progress report. With that being said, any missing/incomplete homework will reflect on your child’s grades.
Please check Gradelink if your child is missing any homework and reach out to me directly if you have any concerns or questions. Please keep in mind that the progress report is just a snapshot of where your child is at right now. Final Grades will be given at the end of the 1st trimester.

All Saint Day
Please remember that in order for your child to be able to wear a Halloween costume, they have to wear a saint costume on All Saint’s Day (November 1st). Even though this year we are researching on North and South American Saints, your child may dress up as any saint of their liking.
Halloween costumes
To ensure that all costumes follow our School’s Halloween costume guidelines, I would like to ask everyone what costume their child is planning to wear on October 31. Please be sure costumes meet all these guidelines. They must be appropriate and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change. Please let me know what your child is wearing by clicking this link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UHavbIKCj2pNVAUAGJcKR8fz4RwCtpHiB0s_lAtjjRg/edit
- Costumes should be child-friendly. No inflatables, no gory or scary clowns, no devils, or scary costumes
- Costumes Should Not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, inappropriate for a Catholic school (skimpy or revealing), gory, evil, or violent
- Drag on the ground
- Contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Contain any weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Encourage cross-dressing. Boys dress up like boys, and girls dress up like girls
Truancy Policy
A student is considered truant when he or she is absent from school without a valid excuse for three full days in one school year or is tardy or absent for more than any 30-minute period during the school day on three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof. The school shall report the student to the local public school district’s attendance office or the public-school district’s superintendent.
In the event that a school suspects that a student is truant (absent from school without a valid excuse), the school administration should first contact the parents/guardians. If the school suspects that the student is a habitual truant (absent three times in a school year without a valid excuse) and all resources at the school level have been exhausted, the school principal should notify the local Child Welfare and Attendance authorities.
If a student has been reported once as a truant and then is absent again for one or more days without a valid excuse or tardy on one or more days without a valid excuse, the school should again report the student as truant to the local public school district’s attendance office or the public school district’s superintendent. A student who has been reported as truant three or more times is considered a habitual truant and is subject to dismissal.
If a student has been absent without excuse, and it is impossible to contact the parents/guardians or designated emergency contacts within 4 hours and after repeated attempts, the school should notify the attendance office of the local public school district, the local police department, Child Protective Services, or all of those agencies.
