Dear First Grade Families,
I hope everyone is doing well! Here’s a look at what’s coming up for the week of October 28-November 1. Please make sure to read all the important information below to avoid any questions that may already be addressed. If you missed last week’s email, you can find updates on my school blog: First Grade Blog
First of all, I would like to extend a big thank-you to our wonderful parent volunteers who joined us last Thursday during our field trip to the California Science Center! I truly appreciate your time, and I hope everyone enjoyed the experience. The students had such a memorable day learning about different aspects of science!
Deadlines:
- November 15: Saint Plate Project (Templates & instructions sent home)
Halloween Costumes:
To ensure that all costumes follow our school’s Halloween guidelines, I ask that you let me know what costume your child plans to wear on October 31. Costumes must be appropriate and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change. Please share your child’s costume using the link below:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/19pIQ0zkBWI34qCzxUBpsfJ9JiZ9gUogyVt6sIn23NJA/edit
- Costumes should be child-friendly. No inflatables, gory or scary clowns, devils, or scary costumes.
- Costumes should not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, or inappropriate for a Catholic school (no skimpy or revealing outfits, gory, evil, or violent themes).
- Drag on the ground.
- Contain sharp or pointed objects that could accidentally strike another person.
- Include weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Encourage cross-dressing. Boys dress like boys, and girls dress like girls.
- Students must bring their own Halloween buckets/bag for trunk or treat. All students and adults volunteering may dress in their favorite appropriate Halloween costume and must follow these guidelines. The events are for students only. Adults working at or volunteering on campus for Trunk or Treat may earn hours for decorating their trunks and helping to pass out candy. More information for volunteers will be given to parents by our Room Parent PLC lead and Trunk or Treat Lead.
