Dear Kinder Families,
Happy 10th week of Kindergarten! We have an exciting and busy week ahead of us! Our first Kindergarten field trip, another fundraiser at El Pollo Inka, and plenty of October activities are coming up! Please carefully read below to avoid questions that can be answered in this email. Celebrating Dia de los Muertos
I will be setting of an ofrenda in our classroom, to celebrate our loved ones who have gone before us for Dia de los Muertos. If you’d like, please bring in a photo of family, friend, or any special loved one you’d like us to remember and honor. I will be decorating our ofrenda this week, and adding pictures as we receive them!
Red Ribbon Week- Wear a red shirt and your P.E Bottoms!
This week we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week, a national drug awareness and prevention campaign!
Students are allowed to wear a RED shirt/top along with their P.E bottoms since it is our PE day!
CA Science Center Field Trip – October 24
Our first field trip to the CA Science Center is THIS week on Thursday, Oct 24th. Students need to bring a packed lunch from home, in a brown paper bag! They are allowed to bring a small backpack or sack and their water bottles. Please do not send them with any valuables or money, we will not be visiting the gift shop.
Kindergarten Fundraiser at El Pollo Inka — October 24th
We will be having another fundraiser on Thursday, held at El Pollo Inka! Show the flyer provided (it is also inside your child’s homework folder) and spread the word! 20% of proceeds will go towards our Kindergarten class! You can eat there or order to-go.
Kindergarten finally attends All School Mass on October 25th
We will be attending our first school mass! Please ensure that your child is in their FORMAL MASS UNIFORM.
Big Buddy & Little Buddy Pumpkin Activity
This Friday, October 25th our class will be meeting with their 8th Grade bug buddies to decorate their pumpkins during school! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Halloween Costumes
To ensure that all costumes follow our Catholic School’s Halloween costume guidelines, I would like to ask everyone what costume their child is planning to wearon October 31. Please be sure costumes meet all guidelines. They must be appropriate and pre-approved, or a student may be sent home to change. Please let me know what your child is wearing by via by October 25th. You can add it on the link below!
- Costumes should be child-friendly. No inflatables, no gory or scary clowns, no devils, or scary costumes
- No Harry Potter or Pokémon costumes (please see Mrs. Grey’s email)
- Costumes Should Not:
- Be obstructive, offensive, inappropriate for a Catholic school (not revealing), gory, evil, or violent
- Drag on the ground
- Contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Contain any weapons that resemble or could be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Should not encourage cross-dressing. Boys dress up like boys, and girls dress up like girls
Saint Puppet Project DUE Nov 1st:
Please send the completed puppet into class by November 1st.

All Saints’ Day Dress-Up
On Friday November 1st, students may come to school dressed up as ANY Saint. Saint costumes do not need to be elaborate! Students will process in Mass with the school in their costumes.
For example, Mrs. Garrido will be dressing up as St. Philomena. I just have a pink shawl, a flower crown, and a blue dress.
This will be part of their Religion participation grade.
